I'm going to Montreal next weekend, for the first time. What are some cool things to do, or avoid?

Only times I've been to Montreal were during the Grand Prix weekend and it's 3 days of partying and racing.... so I've never had much of a chance to do a lot of sight-seeing. From what I hear Old Montreal is beautiful and just walking around and taking in the culture is an experience in itself.

Have a smoked meat sandwich at Ben's or Schwartz's deli's

Go to Cresent Street - bars, patios and restaurants

Peel Pub - drinks and food

Old Montreal - top of the list of places to go and see

check out La Basilique Notre Dame

cant seem to get the english button to work - they have a approx 1hr "show" where you learn about the history of the place.
