The NME have their usual hyperbole going with this, but no one else has really picked up on this, including no official word on the Weezer website.

If it's over, then it was a good run. My favourite Weezer memory is from Frosh week, sitting around a case of Heiniken with a new friend, listening to the blue album and discussing why it was so much better than Pinkerton. Our Gael (Frosh leader) looks at us and goes "you two will fit in nicely here."

Cheers,

Pat
NME sucks... they invent most of their stories... and they're aimed way toomuch at the teeny market lately!

Oh, Queen's, how I miss thee.

If it's over, then it was a good run...for a while. The first two Weezer albums are classics; parts of the third and fourth albums are very, very good; and the fifth album is, imo, a colossal disappointment. On that point, I saw Weezer last year at the Kool Haus; it ranks as one of the absolute worst concerts I've ever attended, largely because Rivers walked on stage in a puffy vest, said about four words the entire night and looked like he'd rather be anywhere but on stage in front of us. I'd seen Weezer twice before and loved them both times, which made the final show all the more disappointing. I know, I know: he's a misanthrope, etc. But that's not fine with me when I'm forking over $50 to watch him do a human jukebox; I'd have been better off sitting at home, putting the Weezer albums on random mode and saving myself the money. Anyway--rant over. And if Weezer is actually done, then godspeed--they've written some of the wickedest rawk of the last fifteen or so years.

why doesnt he just totally overhaul all the members again like after the blue album?

Ill get murdered for saying this, but Pinkerton is my favourite album by them, although it is followed closely by the blue album. I dunno, just something about it is really interesting...

I don't even see this as a debatable point, myself--Pinkerton is a m-----f------ masterpiece. That said, TBA clearly has a special place in my heart; it's difficult to dissociate my teenage years from that album. But Pinkerton...man...some of the stuff on there absolutely KILLS. I still think hearing "Across the Sea" live was one of the coolest concert moments of my life.

Before this last record, Pinkerton was probably my least favourite Weezer disc. However, "Tired of Sex" is just a brilliant lead off track.

Cheers,

Pat
