That is freakin' awesome! If I actually had $2879 kickin' around, I'd definitely do it.

That does sound amazing. What a great idea. Not so sure about the whole train ride thing though - I did the 28 hr trek from Halifax to Oshawa and back way too many times for my liking.

I'll have to start buying more lottery tickets I think, cause winning the lottery will be the only way I'll have the money to follow all my favourite bands around!

Well, I was never a train fan, especially after taking the train (AMTRAK) from Boston to Denver (51 hours out, 57 hours back, due to sitting in Chicago to wait for a mail car). However, Canada's trains (VIA Rail) are spectacular. I consider myself a train buff now.

There is music (and partying) 24 hours a day on board the train! We run concerts with our headliners in our specialized performance car from about noon until midnight. Every other hour of the day finds all the passengers jamming and running their own impromptu performances.

70 strangers get on the train, and 70 new best friends get off the train. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it happen each and every trip I've taken. The experience is so amazing, nobody wants it to end, and there are inevitably tears aflowing at the final goodbye party at the end of the trip.

I wish you could all get to do this. I understand the price is high (I couldn't afford it if I wasn't on the staff), but the memories are, as they say, priceless.

Anyone remeber when The Hip were actually talking about taking a train across Canada and recording an album while doing the trip??

I beleieve it was in between Phantom Power and Music at Work when they were discussing it?

It was Music At Work I think, but the whole thing fell apart. They went to New Orleans instead, and got one more session at Kingsway before it closed.

I have some recordings from a previous trip with Ramblin' Jack Eliot, Tom Russell, Wylie and the Wild West and others. The recordings come out great.
