I noticed the other day that quite frequently the only time the f word is used in Hip (and Gord solo) songs it is in quotations, not him actually saying it. Examples:
Fireworks: "You said you didn't give a f about hockey"
The Heart of the Melt: "I could dance with the puck... you said..."
Nashville: Opening lyrics.
Vancouver Divorce: "[She] said it's art just f'in miror it"
I know there's more examples of this, I just can't do it off the top of my head. Anyone have more examples, or examples of where he just straight up uses the f word without quotations? I just thought it was a little curious about why this is.
Titanic Terrarium does not:
"We don't f with the 401"
It Can't Be Nashville Every Night
He said "Fuck this, and fuck that"
here's another example "There's this fuckin' band you gotta see, they used to scare the living shit outta me"

My favourite Hip lyric.

Fire in the Hole:
Brutal as depicted truth
That kid's a fuckin' goof
Turn your lanterns low
100th:
I remember, I remember Buffalo and I remember Hengelo
It would seem to me I remember every
single fuckin' thing I know
Locked:
Morning broke out the backside of a truck-stop
The end of a line a real, rainbow-likening, luck stop
Where you could say I became chronologically fucked up
All Tore Up:
Ya play yer Fuck-Off-Nows right
and don't clear the place

Yeah I guess there's a lot of them, but it seems like in most of them it's more a fictional character (oftentimes the speaker of the song, not Gord) using the profanity. Ya understand? It weren't no thing...
I place 100% of the blame for my excessive use of F Bombs on Gord and Ed Vedder.
the best ever was the George Carlin "Use OF The Word Fuck" clip played over the X-Files Theme on that Ottawa bootleg...it caught me completely off gaurd when i first heard it at the end of the tape.
No Road Apples love? From "On The Verge":
"Well we're the last of the big-time penetrators
Playing dead to fuck the undertaker"

I don't see that in the printed lyrics...
He say's it during "The Drop-Off"
Holy F*ckin Jesus...or something to that effect...
