I was constantly listening to Thugs, and Scared and Nautical Disaster today, and I got to thinking my breaking point is being afraid of drowning because I had a near experience.

As I read through four pages of meaningful Hip lyrics I realized that that while they weren't the first lyrics that came to my mind, I found each meaningful as well.

My picks:

"No dress rehearsal, this our life"

Simply profound; profoundly simple.

I'm not a miserable and depressed person and I do enjoy my life but Gord articulated another profound truth. Consider reality on a global scale and it's pretty clear that we're hosed. I'm convinced that within three generations, Chinese will be the predominant language spoken in the USC*.

Anyone got a barrel they can spare? :wink:

*Under the Three Generation scenario, China will have acquired the USA in payment for the gazillions of dollars we owe them and renamed the country the United States of China.

I've always rather liked that one too, being a theatre nerd and all.

I also really like "don't sound so detached, this is you and me", from "Emperor Penguin". It so well articulates the frustration felt when your other half could care less that things aren't going well. However, I am happy to say that I can no longer relate to the aforementioned lyric. :mrgreen:

I became cognizant of a similar inability to relate with the great line Scottitude referenced from "Daredevil":

I was never one who would ever seriously entertain the notion of "jumping" either, but gone are the days where I would muse upon the pointlessness and futility of an earthbound existance.

Amazing how a little bird fluttering in can completely change the perspective....
