Hi,
Just wondering if anyone saw any reviews of the Van. show in any of the local papers? I checked the Sat. Van. Sun and someone else checked the Sun. Province.......and nothing was found. I also checked the Georgia Straight.
I always like to check the papers to see what the reviews were especially if it was a kick ass show. Kind of weird that I didn't see one. Maybe I missed it.

I'll look in the Province editions from Monday forward - they're still kicking around. I don't see many newsstands with The Straight out here in the 'burbs.
We were first in line & saw a photographer snap some shots of the lineup about an hour before the doors opened, but he never mentioned which paper he worked for.
I'd be surprised if was reported anywhere. Aside from radio plugs, the show was kept under wraps after it sold out.
TicketBastard & House Of Blues featured it the two days before the sale date. Afterwards it disappeared entirely from their main pages, artist listings, and venue listings.
From what I saw, all posters outside/inside the venue & webpages for Rock101/The Fox didn't list it on their concert calendars either.
Thank you TLB that would be great. Even if it was kept under wraps you'd still think they'd do a review......it's good for the band's publicity and it was something they did for their fans. They are the best band in Canada and they've been around so long now. You'd think someone would have done a review.
My sister's friend's husband is a music critic for the Georgia Straight and a die hard Hip fan who's seen them many times and reviewed them. Surprised he didn't do one. I think I'll ask my sister to ask him. Guess he just gets assigned to what ever show they want him to do. The GS reviewed Beb Harper instead. They maybe didn't do it since the Hip's show was 6 days old by the time the GS came out.....though Harpers was 4 days old.
Anyway I have a feeling you won't find anything but thanks for trying!
Still thinking how great a show it was. I feel like I've come full circle now....Saw them at the Commodore in '91 and again last week at the 'Dore plus alot of shows inbetween!!!!! So great to be back at the 'Dore. LOVE it there! Go there all the time.

You have to wonder about those who decide which artists get reviewed, which critic to send to which show, and the spin they're looking to accomplish from that. A Harper review might sell more copies these days than a Hip review.
I'm glad you still enjoy attending the Commodore Ballroom; unfortunately the very few times I've been there always end with my muttering on the walk out "I am never going to that place again".
