Well, the good news is, if they want to get elected they'll have to come to your door canvassing ... which could lead to some interesting conversations conducted mostly with blunt instruments.
What's really icky, if you read the articles, is the way they pretend they're trying to look out for children. Banning it, you know ... that just makes kids curious. Oh, sure ... that's probably the whole root of the problem!

Gotta get my butt to work right now but just heard on the radio that the federal gov't here in Canada is actually putting forward a bill to up the legal age from 14 to 16 here. That's good news!
no it's not, that means a lot of kids are going to get in a lot of trouble for just being curious and doing what their hormones are telling them to do...you might not want, or like to think that 14 year olds have sex, but it's the truth, and that's how it is regardless of how you feel about it...I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I'll put it this way, it's like banning panhandling, is that going to stop anyone from doing it? no, it's just going to make it harder on people that are already hard off...

this article is messed up.
I'm against the federal gov't bumping the age up to 16 basically for the reason TDC said earlier, 14 years will still do it because they are curious and it will create more problems
Re the issue with bumping the age in Canada, the Conservative bill includes a provision to make it okay to have sex with someone within five years of your own age, regardless of the age being raised to 16. That takes care of the concern that you would charge a 16-year-old with child molestation for bonking his 15-yr-old girlfriend.
maybe its not as bad as i previously thought, need to think about it some more with the new facts
