After seeing couple of clips from "Lonely End Of The Rink" and "Drop Off" that someone posted, it appears that the trend of Gord playing guitar that got so common the last album seems to be declining (I think he played guitar live on every song on the last album except "Are We Family" and "Heart of the Melt". He is not playing guitar in either song, and I don't think he plays guitar on "No Threat" either.
For anyone who was at the Vancouver show, does he play guitar on "Fly" and "The New Maybe"?

it seems to me he started around trouble at the henhouse, ahead by a century is awesome, and i enjoy gord playing the guitar, but i think day for night is my favourite album, which i don't think he played guitar on.
honestly, i hated when gord started, cause it meant less dancing. but now, i really enjoy it, because he is getting better. and it's almost like we've seen him progress with each show over the years.
I remember my first Hip show, Winnipeg Arena, February 16th, 1995. Gord played guitar during Daredevil.

Anyone who doesn't like Gord Playing guitar can refer back to Mav's Salmon fest video. After watching the impromptu Springtime with a Backpackers guitar.
I think it brings a great variety to the show, I love his dancing and antics, but I love the music more, so it doesn't matter either way to me.
Live, his guitar playing is pretty much buried in the mix, so I don't think it much matters. It seems to give him an excuse not to dance around like a madman.
Well, he can't dance around like a madman forever. Hell, he's older than I am....
I agree with the fact that it may add years to his life by playing more guitar but a happy balance of dance and strumming is best.
I like the mix at shows these days... half of the songs are newer 'n thus half the songs Gord plays guitar on... half he dances on. It's a good change of pace (especially for the softer tunes), but still allows Gord to bring the energy to a new height when possible.

Rory is right, Daredevil was the first Hip song Gord played guitar on, at least live anyways. If you listen to the album version you can hear an acoustic gutar in starting in the second verse if I'm not mistaken.
Personally I don't like when Gord plays guitar since you can't hear it anyways. It seems like there is no point to it.
