knew this was gonna happen! there's no way the Hip would be in Chitown on the 3rd, and not play another venue on the 2nd or 4th.
This is great news. Milwaukee's Summerfest is a blast. It beats the Chicago summer festival to pieces... great music, lots of partying, good food, and not as much... um, diversity as the Taste of Chicago..
if you are not familiar with the geography, Milwaukee is only an 1 1/2 hour drive north of Chicago.
awesome news!

Excuse me? Please tell me I read that wrong . . .

Geez.
Have you ever been to Taste of Chicago?
Have you ever had anyone warn you against going into a certain neighborhood at night, or just some common sense advice like that? That's all i'm saying. I've been to the Taste many times, and have been to Summerfest several times. I can honestly say that Summerfest is a more laid back atmosphere, and a nicer place to take the family.
Not everyone in this forum is familiar with Chicago or Milwaukee, and i'm just trying to pass along the same info that i would hope an out of town friend would give to me.

Thanks for the clarrification. I guess it came out wrong the first time. Milwaukee is more laid back than Chicago and Chigaco, has some areas, like all/most big cities, that one should avoid lest they be taken advantage of.
. . . that happened to me in Quebec City. A cab driver took my wife and I, definately took advantage of us and took us on a ride around town. We figured it out . . . nayway, it's not the same, but that's my story . . .

To quote Marv Albert after a three point bomb:
"YYYYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"
I thought this would happen!
Pearl Jam at Summerfest on F 6/30
Hip at Summerfest on Su 7/2
Hip at HoB on M 7/3
I didn't mean to offend anyone. I love Chicago! and you're right...its got a lot of great things to offer, and some not so great things, just like any other metropolitan area.
Here's just a couple of tidbits for you guys who are making the trip down to Chicago for the House of Blues concert, or the Milwaukee concert the next day. You may or may not already know this, but.. a huge fireworks display is held on the lakefront the evening of the HOB show. Close to 1 million people(?) try to find a space on the grass for their..butts to watch the show. Make sure that you have your transportation back to the hotel, etc.. squared away for after the concert. Unless you are walking distance to your hotel, there are going to be transportation challenges. You may be better off hanging at the House of Blues until the wee hours.... they have a Blues bar connected to the hotel, that will have some live music going on.
John Cage,
i'm following your lead! Pearl Jam on the 30th, then 2 Hip shows.
it's a Phil Georgeff trifecta!
So this must mean that if the Hip are playing Charlottetown, it'll be June 30th?
Mav?

Summerfest questions-
Do bands usually play a full set?
Will there only be the $15 weekend fee to see the show?
How great a view can you expect/how can you weasel your way to a better one?

Got my tickets, see you in Milwaukee. BTW, I got a get hotel deal with expedia.ca, $92 Canadian a night, downtown.
