So apparently this album isn't being released in Canada until May 23rd (it came out in the U.S. on April 18th). But I couldn't wait that long, so I ordered it from Amazon last week and it just arrived today. No surprise, it's another killer album from one of the most consistent rock bands working today. These guys can do no wrong in my opinion. Over the course of one short year, they've become one of my top 5 favorite bands. I can't get enough!
Like any great band, the DBTs are evolving, and the new disc is a bit of a departure for them. It's more of a collection of unrelated stories, as opposed to the "concept album" feel of their previous efforts. So far there's only one song I haven't warmed up to yet (A World of Hurt), but the rest of the album kicks just as much ass as anything else they've done. Man, what a great year for new music so far. New Pearl Jam, new Drive-By Truckers, new Sam Roberts, new Ben Harper, and hopefully some new Hip!
