$14 shipping to canada Sad

Sweet , thanks! I guess this is another plus to living in the States, small shows and cheap shipping!
I was hoping for some posters for the Canadian arena tour but to no avail. That L.A. poster is awesome though.
Anyone have a clue as to how these posters come about?

I know The Hip usually have a poster with their tour itinerary for sale at each show, and I know The Fillmore creates a kick ass poster for nearly every concert they host. But how does something like that LA poster get made? Does the band ask an artist they admire to create one, does the record company commission it, or does the artist do it themselves and hope it sells?

The concert ads that show up in the free weekly music magazines or on fliers seem to be the same from city to city throughout each tour (just the city, date, and venue change). So I assume those are coming from the record company, their management, or the tour promoter. But who decides to create a “one-off” poster for the Los Angeles show, or the two night stand in Buffalo?

Concert posters are done in a number of ways. Sometimes they are created solely for the venue by an in-house or local designer...sometimes they are created for the promoter...but I think most of the time they are created by an artist who is hired directly by a band's management or merchandise company. I'm sure even record labels and ad agencies do some too.

"One-off" posters are probably created by a local artist or design company for a specific venue or local promoter. There are many poster artists out there that work directly for one venue - creating promo posters for just about every show. I'm pretty sure the Fillmore does create a special "one-off" poster for every show. Tour posters and large newspaper ads are most likely done through the band or label.

A fellow Hipbaser (thank you Dave) sent me a link to the poster that was made for the 2 Buffalo shows at The Towne Ballroom last month.
Under the "on/off" switch it lists March 9 10 The Towne Ballroom.
The poster is 18x24 inches
This could be one of the best Hip posters I have ever seen. (with all due respect to Mr. Ruocco)

That is THE coolest thing I've ever seen. I did a quick search and couldn't find it - any idea where to look? :jump

Thanks for posting the site, I just bought one Smile
Those were some sweet Sasquatch posters, especially Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! I would have died to go last year and see the Hip and NIN.

If I could turn back time.

I wonder if that is band or artist signed?
