WOW...another incredible album from the Boss...really cool record. I highly recommend it
I've heard mixed reviews, so I'll have to hear it for myself to judge. But anything from the Boss is sure to be a quality piece of work.
I'm a big Boss fan, but I'm not sure if I want a folky bluegrass record........
Maybe I'll try to listen to a tune or two and see if I'd like it......
"Folky" is an accurate descriptor but "bluegrass" isn't really.

The Seeger Sessions Band backing the Boss is comprised of 17 members, playing the gamut traditional instruments in American roots music.
I've heard "Erie Canal" off the record (which is really the old song "Low Bridge"), and it's absolutely
incredible. I will enjoy this album as much or perhaps more than any of his others. I'm proud of Springsteen for doing this, breathing life into the art of America's past for this and the next generation to observe and cherish. Huge props, Bruce!

ah, I guess I just assumed it would be bluesgrassy from what I read, but then again, what do I know? I'll probably pick it up..... I just need to sneak it into the house so the girlfriend doesn't notice. With PJ and Tool next Tuesday, that'll be 3 CDs in a week, and I already get in trouble for having a 350+ CD collection!

got the cd today from work, and it's amazing...great album for a sunny day, just chilling out on the deck drinkin some beers..this will win awards for sure
It is amazing. My favourite track is hands down "O Mary Don't You Weep". Bruce and this bluegrass/folk blend works amazingly well. I enjoy this album way more than his other "folk" albums: "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" and also "Devils And Dust"... although I do enjoy the latter immensely.

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street band put on the single-most mesmerizing concert I have ever seen in my life...the power of Bruce alongside those musicians is something very special and for me I have a hard time listening to anything from him other than the E-Street band. He came back to Ottawa for his solo tour last year and I was rather underwhelmed by it...although I'm sure this new project will no doubt be good, it's just not the "Boss" that I want to listen to.
I'm drooling in anticipation. I have a feeling that if a whine enough this could be a graduation present. At the very least, I know I can convince someone in my family (we're all huge Bruce nuts) to bring it up the weekend after next. I just heard the track, "Pay Me My Money Down" and Esthete sent me "Erie Canal" awhile back. Between the two, I'd say there's tons of promise. Oooh, I cannot wait!! :thumb:

It's good. It IS different though. I agree with the "beer on the deck, crank up the CD" thing though. It's kinda like if a horn section, a bluegrass band, and a rock singer went to a Southern Baptist churce to play hyms.....
