So does this put an end to all the AC/DC rumors, at least for this year? Or will they have a rock festival as well?
For those who haven't already heard, on Saturday August 19th, there is a huge ass country concert at the Magnetic Hill Concert Site in Moncton. Sugarland, George Canynon, Brooks & Dunn, and Alan Jackson, with more possibly to be announced. Not really a country fan myself, i was disappointed when i first heard this on the radio, as i was hoping for more of the same from last year (Rolling Stones/Tragically Hip/Our Lady Peace/etc.), maybe something along the lines of AC/DC, Black Crowes and such. One of the few country acts i like though are Brooks & Dunn and i've always wanted to see them live, so i might go over. I think it'd be kinda cool to see Alan Jackson live as well.
There could probably still be a concert Labour Day Weekend, and it could possibly be a bit bigger than Alan Jackson (I hope)... oh well, hopefully my summer concert w/ The Hip in Charlottetown dream comes true!

I just read the article from CBC, and it at the very end it mentions
'Rock fans are hoping for their own concert at the site this year, and Fowler says promotors are still talking to several big names, but a second show isn't a sure thing.'
Kickin'! Its sure as hell going to be hard to top last year, but I mean, I would definetly go, even it wasn't a band with the same hugeness as The Stones. I would go to see Tom Petty or some other kickin band, even if it was a smaller concert.

My brothers are pumped about the country concert though. I'm not a country fan. It would be a good time because any excuse to go camping and get drunk is fun, right? I don't think I'll go but ya never know.
i wouldnt mind see tom petty, hes got a bunch of good music.
Petty is one of my favorites & a guy i definitely want to see some time...same goes for John Mellencamp & John Fogerty (why couldn't the Johns have taken their tour East last fall!!).

I've seen a few Petty shows, and they were all great, great shows. He's just one of those acts who has gotten it right everytime. A good buzz, good energy, and he has his setlist fromulation down to a science - I always remember that aspect of his shows.
Part of what makes Petty and Mellencamp shows so good is that their bands / additional musicians & vocalists are always so damn good.
I've seen Mellencamp about ten times....he also puts on a solid show. John likes to play around with the format of some of his songs, and I always enjoy what he comes up with. And I guess the fact he's from neighboring Indiana helps make the shows here that much better, as the support is phenomenal -- he always mentions how much he likes playing here in Cincy because the crowds are great....
I think you can throw Bryan Adams into those group of artists too, his live shows are always incredible. And part of what makes the BA experience so damn good is his band, Keith Scott is one of the best guitar players there is. Mickey Currey is one hell of a drummer as well.

I'm sure Bryan Adams is a splendid performer.
But with alll due respect, Ryan, we were talking about rock n' roll artists over here. :mrgreen:
