They also cancelled "Touchdown Atlantic", the pre-season game in Halifax.

Sad day for Ottawa, Halifax, and the entire CFL.
what a joke
I dont know why they bother bringing teams back to Ottawa, it never works. I think the CFL should look elsewhere, or just leave it.

NFL rules!
Just more proof that Ottawa is not a sports town.

and the CFL isn't in as good of condition as they wanted us to believe..
The commish should hit the bricks. He didn't see this coming? Oh well at least the Riders wont have to bail them out like we did with the Argo's. Ottawa has more people on a block than we do in our entire province and they cant keep a football team. Good thing the Sens are in first or maybe they would be on the block too. Nice work capital city. :thumb:

Being a resident of Ottawa I couldn't agree more...honestly, with a #1 hockey franchise in the hunt for the Cup, so called "Sens Fans" are more concerned with beating the hapless Leafs than anything else. In addition to this 2nd strike for the CFL Renegades, Ottawa also had a National Lacrose League team pull up anchor and leave town, had the Montrel Expos pull their AAA Farm team and are now dangerously close to losing the Baltimore Orioles AAA farm team as well. Clearly this town does not deserve professional sports teams.

I'm ashamed.

But do they pull in good crowds for Hip concerts?
No sean, they really don't. I got presale seats to the Nov 2004 show at the civic centre here, and I was pretty pleased with the location (I got them about 45 minutes after the pre-sale started). A friend of mine decided he wanted to go the day of the show, and not only did he get seats, he got better seats than I had, and no one else was in his row.

I heard that 3400 seats went unsold for that show.

Even for Pearl Jam, I was in the 40th row on the floor, and there were 11 empty seats in my row.

David Bowie didn't sell 5000 seats, Def Leppard got less than 4000, Velvet Revolver played to 3500, it's sad, really.
Here in Saint John, I'd say 1750 seats went unsold in 2004. Now, fairly sad, seeing as the venue holds about 6 200. Small city, maritimes, what can you expect?
Ottawa and surrounding area (Ottawa, the Valley, Gatineau) has over 750,000 people though. It shouldn't be so hard to support concerts or sports teams.
