I bought two classic cds today:
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

I'm feelin' them.
genesis rules
I find I always have to spend a small amount of time explaining the virtues of Gabriel era Genesis vs the Phil Collins 'lite' version of the band.

A truly excellent album.

phil collins sold his soul to disney..early genesis is brilliant...
Aqualung by tull is friggin great as well..cross eyed mary rocks
I just could never get into Genesis - I respect their contributions - even saw them in concert once - but something about their stuff just seems so...sterile....

But Aqualung..now that and other great JT records have kicked my ass for years. Gotta give it up to a band equally proficient in cranking out sweet, delicate acoustic guitar riffs as well as gritty, raw electric ones, all the while embellishing both with furious flute improv.....
I'm not the Jethro Tull fan I was when I first started getting into classic rock about ten years ago, but there's still just something about Aqualung that really hits me. Listening to that record today brings me back to sitting in my buddy's basement when we were younger, riffling through his parent's vinyls.

Locomotive Breath stands as one of three songs with a fluthe solo I won't skip over. The other two are by the Dave Matthews Band (and realisitically, those feature the pennywhistle more than the fluthe)

Cheers,

Pat
I prefer Genisisisisiisis later stuff.

Although, "Supper's Ready" is a killer track from their older stuff....and If you make one cd from Lamb, it's alright as well...but I just find it a hard listen.

Nothing can compare to Invisible Touch or We Can't Dance....that's where it's at. Smile
