I have been downloading some TV torrents lately.
When I transfer them to DVD - twice now the voices have not matched up to the video.
Am I doing something wrong?
It is a straight video file to DVD.
I can't think of anything to change.
I am using Nero.

Torrents are illegal, dude. :jump Just kidding.
What's the file extention of the files you are downloading? Also, if you watch the file on your computer in a program like Winamp, does it match up then?
problems with audio/video sync usually relate to a problem when your dvd burning software is encoding the video files to a dvd compatible format. the best way to make sure there are no problems while encoding is to have as many video codecs installed as possible. you can download codec packs like Nemo or the K-Lite codec pack. also, there is an app called GSpot, which can identify the exact codec and version of any video file. google any of those names and you'll find them easily. also, its best to use a stable burning software, i wouldn't use anything but Nero. your problem also could simply be a corrupt video file, in which case you'd have to get into some more advanced software like Virtual Dub and correct the problem manually.
oh, and this is not an affirmation from me for online piracy. someone start a new thread if they want to get into that debate, although i'm sure one exists already.
Thanx Guys - I'll try what you said and see what happens.
TV downloads - I always thought they were legal.
I kinda assumed that over the air was "free to share"

It's kind of a gray area. Technically, it's not legal, but there aren't many networks that bother (mostly FOX and HBO) that bother to do anything about it.
I gave up burning avi's to DVD a while ago with the same sort of problem. Sound sync issues. But I'm a sucker for punishment and thought I'd screw around with some of the newer software out there now that do it.
I was burning some Battlestar Galactica avi's to DVD format last night. I installed Nero Ultra 7.0 (demo from Nero site). It installs NeroVision, a dvd authoring/converting/burning plugin. It worked well. I checked the DVD and no sound sync problems :jump . Only thing I didn't like is the length of time it took to burn 3 episodes to the DVD, which was 1.5 hours.
Now that it has worked I'll be looking at the dual layer dvd burners which are cheap as dirt now.

avi's are a pain for me but VSO's Divx to DVD converts & burns them to disc for me. Only drawback is no fancy menu. No huge sync issues but if burning a file longer than 4 hours long, major errors occur on the footage longer than that 4hr threshold (I had the 6-hr final match from the 06 Masters snooker tourney - hours 1-4 were fine with minor sync issues but hrs 5 & 6 were horrible).
I used to have the same problems with avi files.. the sound used to slowly get further and further out of sync as the dvd went on, but ever since I upgraded to the new divx codec, I've had no problems at all.
