LOL, the sad thing is...I actually thought that the first time I saw them.
Acksherly, rumour has it that Gord has quit the band to focus on his solo career and poetry.

Britney Spears is to take over as lead singer. Bob Rock is working with her now -- there has been a little bit of drama over her refusal to shave her head, although she was pretty enthusiastic about riding the mic stand.

I have this from a very reliable source.
Its nice when someone asks a question about the new album and gets shit on by people with 900 posts.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but if someone thinks The Hip jumped the shark then why would they be interested in a new album? Why are they a member of the Hipbase?

A troll by any other name, is still a troll.

Here's a life-lesson for those who need it: you get what you give. Always.

Show respect, get respect; be an ass, get treated like an ass. It's pretty simple, really.

exactly
I think some of you are really overlooking the fact that a great song was born out of this......longseason, I am still laughing, you have a some serious talent in the satire lyric category.....as for the people throwing this "jump the shark" thing at me, you're all stool pigeons. I guess I could fish around your histories and dig up shit, but frankly I could care less. You guys should also try and reading more than the first sentence of a post when you are bashing it, you'd probably write more intelligent provocative shit. zingggggggggg
You know what would be really cool? If the new album finally brought together those who think the hip jumped the shark after Day for Night and those who think there new stuff is the best.

I woulda said U2 jumped the shark after rattle & hum, but their recent albums brought me back -- I'm listening to them again.

I'll still wipe my ass with Zooropa, though.

Yes, yes, evolution, etc. I personally think the new hip stuff is better than the pre-D4N dayz.

But itunez doesn't lie -- D4N is my most-played hip CD over the past year.

And jeromio isn't trolling -- he didn't even bring up the jump the shark deal, someone else did.

It's ok to have a dissenting viewpoint, right? Or has the server moved to North Korea and Lance bought a leisure suit and calls himself Dear Leader?

8) 8) 8)
I don't really see how having a different opinion on the greatness of the hip makes him a troll.

If the hip put out music that isn't as good I will like them less. Anything else seems pretty dumb to me. If profess yourself to be a fan for something other than their music you are a fanboy, right?

Stool pigeons?

Confusedcratch:
He's not a troll...just a guy who has an opinion that may not be in line with the majority of this group. Nothing wrong with that.

Hey guys, there are more important things to get worked up about.
The Internet is a wonderful place sometimes........ :?

Too many misinterpetations
It's interesting that many people feel The Hip jumped the shark after d4n as I felt that way but didn't realise it was a popular belief. I tried to keep interest up in vain and didn't get terribly excited about anything until Poets came out. I loved it and liked Phantom Power to an extent but still wasn't terribly jazzed. It was sad as I loved the band up through d4n. I took a chance when IVL came out. I can't remember what song caught my ear but something made me buy the album and low and behold, I thought it was a great album. IBE comes out and I love that album as well. I should mention that in-between , I saw The Hip perform on tv at Woodstock and a few other things that reminded me of what an amazing performing and proudly Canadian band they were. Seeing those performances was an important part of reinvigorating my love of the band.
