I had a feeling this was going to happen:
Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'
NEW YORK (AP) - Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.
Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.
"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."
"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem - and he's cashed plenty of checks - with our show making fun of Christians."
Last November, "South Park" targeted the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers, including actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta, in a top-rated episode called "Trapped in the Closet." In the episode, Stan, one of the show's four mischievous fourth graders, is hailed as a reluctant savior by Scientology leaders, while a cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out.
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."
"Trapped in the Closet." Was probably one of the funniest things I have EVER seen on TV..
By far, the best South Park episode ever.
Isaac Hayes can do whatever he wants, it's not going to make a difference.

Now that is one sweet burn.
Would anyone like to suck on my chocolate, salty balls?

I think it may be second to "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset". Now that was an ending no one could predict.

hock:

Another quote had something to do with Hayes having no problem cashing his cheques when South Park took its swings at Christianity. As much as I think South Park crosses the line when it comes to being downright ignorant and disrespectful when it comes to religion, I have to agree with Stone. Hayes is no moral martyr here.

I'll take it one step further and say he's a complete and total hypocrite.
South Park has railed on almost every culture, race, religion, creed & political ideology out there; the fact that it doesn't discriminate makes it legitimate satire.
When Trey says "
[Hayes] wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin" he's absolutely dead-on.

"Fuck Jesus!"
In my very best Eric Cartman voice.
That episode, were Carmen makes a bet he can win a gold record and he tries to do it by re-writting old bubble gum pop songs and Madonna lyrics but changes all the sexual references to Jesus, he is the star of the Christian Music charts...but he looses because they only award Frankensense and Mur..was laughing too hard to talk.
Either that episode, the Michael Jackson one or...
"BLOOD ORGY!"
Do you remember Matt Stone when he was on Bowling For Columbine, he seemed like a really intelligent person, and intelligent people make the best humor if you ask me
South Park was the most intellegent take on the Terri Schaivo case. They made Kenny be in the hospital and dying, pokeing fun at the TV, Radio and Newspaper responses...in the end they read Kenny's will and all it says is he never wants to be made a spectacle of if he ever winds up in a coma and has to be kept alive.
Was climbing in Colorado last summer, in the Mosquito Range. Went to Alma, Festival in the Clouds. Alma and Fairplay are in Park County. The area south of Hoosier Pass (11,541 ft..I know 'cause I rode my bicycle up it from Fairplay!) is refered to as 'South Park'. The locals conceeded that it was, indeed, THE 'South Park'.
