What a stunningly beautiful record! Neko's singing is absolutely heavenly, not to mention she's a damn fine songwriter as well. Go buy it. NOW!
I'm hooked on the John the Baptist song and Star Witness.
have you heard that new song from Jack Whites new album? I think its called Steady as she Goes. Its real good.

I like those ones as well. The entire album is amazing. I just read in the liner notes that the vocal intro to "John Saw That Number" (aka, the John the Baptist song) was recorded live in the back stairwell at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Pretty cool.
I love her voice when she performs with The New Pornographers, but I've gotta say that The Sadies don't do any justice to her abilities...I enjoy a good country tune just as much as the next open-minded music fan, but I just can't get into that band no matter how good people say their live show is....the music is just weak IMO.
Is her new solo album more upbeat a la the NP's or is it honkey tonk and "twangy" like The Sadies???

You probably won't like it much. It's very folk/country-ish.

I'll buy it this weekend for sure --- I'm seen her play in Seattle before but am soooo looking forward to seeing her at the Gorge! :thumb:

The Sadies are a perfect compliment to Neko's voice and style as it was shown on The Tigers have Spoken. Next time you listen to them pull your head out of the toilet. It makes a huge difference IMO.

I was drunk and I dropped my keys in there and it was my last set....Anyways, just because so many people seem to think this band is superfantastico I will give them a second listen...and if after that I still don't like what I'm hearing I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on The Sadies.

If you ever seen the lead singers leisure suit covered in pot leaves you'd be hooked onthe Sadies too. Its pretty pimp.
Neko Case is on Letterman tonight. I dont know if it is a repeat or not.

Thanks for the heads up...btw you'll be pleased to know that a steady dose of the Neko has caused me to change my tune to her solo stuff. I still prefer her work with the NP's but the solo work is great too!!

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I was lucky enough to see her play 3 songs at the Sasquatch Festival, but then that freak hail storm ruined all the fun. I'll definitely be tuning in for tonight's show.
Maybe Sparrow was great. Going to see her inS'toon in July. She is mezmerizing in a small venue.
I'm actually dating Neko. But keep it on the DL.
It's a secret.
