Besides their upcoming shows with the Hip, has anybody heard any recent news on these guys?? It's been almost 3 years since Reconstruction Site came out, and their website isn't updated very often. I assume they're working on a new album, but I haven't heard anything. John Samson is known for taking his time with his lyrics, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're still in writing mode. But man, it's been a long wait. These guys are freakin' brilliant, and I can't wait to hear what they do next. Too bad I'll be stuck in Calgary while you lucky folks in TO will no doubt be witnessing the debut of new material from both the Hip AND the Weakerthans. Lucky bastards!
But don't worry about me. I'll be sure to rub your noses in it after I get back from the Sasquatch Festival.

I am just about drooling over the fact that I get to see The Hip *and* The Weakerthans on the same day. I wish it were June! I received something from their mailing list the other day, but I think I deleted it. I can rummage through my junk mail and see what I can find. After listening to Reconstruction Site and Left and Leaving for the past couple years, I finally got my hands on a copy of Fallow. A little raw, but still, great stuff. *crosses fingers for new album soon*

Yet another fine band that this board opened my eyes too. I think that whenever direwolf makes a recommendation on a new band or CD he should close his post with "sorry about your wallet".
Yeah, Jenna, Fallow, I feel, is only like that because the band hadn't quite clicked yet. When they pull that old stuff out in concert, it sounds as tight as their newer material.
Us Weakerthans fans here in Winnipeg are about to go legally insane if they don't release something new soon.
And I have some kind of really amazing feeling that they'll tour with the 'Hip, hopefully for the Canadian leg. The boys clearly have somethin goin with these guys. And wow...I'm just, still in regret and tell my buddies whenever I get the chance, that we didn't road trip out to Hamilton for the '04 new years show with the HDRC and Weakerthans. Plus the Hip. All for one ticket. Grr.
