The email isn't clear about how we go about purchasing tickets. Is this going to be through Ticketmaster or will we be purchasing directly from thehip.com? I'm assuming it's the former.

Sounds like we go to thehip.com and login... from there we're off to a page that maplemusic.com is managing.

Of all the days at work not to have computer access! Wow, what bad luck!! I teach and am moving to a new room. The computers are down tomorrow only! I normally have an off period during this time and have bought tickets in the past at this time. Ahhhh!!
I expect them to go fast (the allotment of tickets) and I am on a mission to figure out a way to pull this off.
I cannot be shut out of this one. If anybody wants to possibly work something out where they are only buying two and can buy two more (since the limit is 4)...PM me. I am good for whatever it will cost...and a little extra for the favor!
Anyways, if I can't get them tomorrow, I am sure I will be able to pick some up when they go on sale to the public.
BTW...This First in Line ticketing is very nice, and I think this kind of thing will eventually get moved to THC once it is up and running. :thumb:

I dislike how you cannot see location of the show in this format. I'd gather Fort York would be gen. admission, but it seems a bit weird, no?

Yes - I would say that the Fort York show is going to be general admission. I don't know venue capacity but from what I am told, it is a pretty sweet venue to watch a show at. Maybe we should just dub this the "New ARA?"

Do you mean you can't understand how they'll hold a rock show at that venue? If so, it'll be pretty easy as there is plenty of room for an "intimate" outdoor concert.

I'm somewhat skeptical due to past experience with this sort of thing.
Rush had something similar for tickets to the 30 anni. tour and that was in fact bullschiesse. You resgistered through their web site as a 'fanclub' member and got access to tickets offered through some third party (not ticketmaster) several days before they went on sale through TM. First, loads of scalpers were involved since all you had to do was sign up to get a password. Second, the tickets basically sucked - there were a handfull of quality tix (first 5 rows) but the bulk were 30 rows back and on the sides or in the second section back (this was a shed tour).
However, this is The Hip and not Rush (who can be REALLY clueless w/ regard to dealing w/ fans). Since The Hip have always treated their fans well, I expect FiL ticketing to be decent.
However part deux, this section from the ticket policy puts up a warning sign:
"For shows that are reserved seating, tickets held for purchase, via thehip.com, will be spread over various sections and areas in the venue. Seats are sold on a first come, first served basis, with best available seating assigned to each order as it is placed. Purchasers will not have access to seating charts, or ability to choose where the seats are. The seats you receive, are the seats you receive."
I don't know if I'd want to buy tickets not knowing where they will be (could be up in the rafters) without some type of guarantee or precedent. If you buy and something better comes up through TM, you have to eat the first set or possibly be banned from future purchases through thehip.com. If there was wording in the ticket policy to the effect that all tickets through thehip.com will be better than those through TM, then it's a no brainer.
I would rather see a Ten Club type (nominal fee) set up where you KNOW you'll get better seats than going through TM, eventhough you don't know exactly what you'll get until you pick the tix up at the box office before the show. I thought something similar was to be part of the New Hip Club.

I am skeptical of this approach also, I believe it happened through the edge for a Hip show at the ampitheatre, and lawns only were the tickets released for pre-sale. I believe it's fair to offer the consumer some basic idea of what they are receiving. I will log on and try nab me some tix, I will be very disapointed if it's unclear what I'm receiving. Good chance it is a G.A. show, or they might not have the stage design completed yet! Here's wishing everyone luck who is interested, and hopefully it will be clearer when you get to Maple's website!

But you just contradicted yourself there because you stated that you don't like the fact that you don't know where the tickets are going to be and you don't have a choice in the matter, yet you want it to be like the Ten Club where you still don't know where the tickets will be. And correct me if I'm wrong, but with the Ten Club, the earlier the number that you have (meaning the earlier the date you joined), the better tickets you will get. That is only fair to the people that signed up ages ago. With the new Hip Club, we are all starting from scratch. The band is 20 years into their career and the people that have been following them for that long are in the same position as someone that just heard about them when it comes to signing up. That is just the state of the union. We have to live with that because their is no real fair ranking system when it comes to who is a bigger fan, and there shouldn't be in my opinion.
Let's see how all of this plays out. I think we are jumping the gun by critiquing some wording and it hasn't been 4 hours since we first saw it. I have faith in the Hip.

I would assume this would be general admission, outdoor shows are usually that...but one never knows what can be setup
I'm gonna try and get a couple of tickets, I'm planning on moving to Toronto this summer, had enough of the Nation's Capital for now, could be a fun summer in Toronto
I went to the beer festival a few years back at this venue, nice place for an outdoor concert

This sounds to me that you would probably have a better chance of receiving good seats by waiting until the official ticket sales. I also agree that this is easily taken advantage of by not having a fee for a "club."
