Was that a TD or what?? Steve Young seems to think so, I dont think it was. Does the ball have to go completely over the white line or touch it?? I thought it had to cross over the line fully, and if thats the case no way that was a TD. Still its a tight game and its keeping me very interested which is great, all I wanted was a good close contest this year.

I dont think the ball crossed the line, but cant tell so call on the field stays
Stones = awful
That was just noise

Another example: There was no way that was a holding call. It should have been 17-14 after that drive, not 21-10.
Oh well. It's not like it's the CFL or anything
Cheers

Other than the goal line interception that wasn't even returned for a touchdown, Seattle has had absolutely NOTHING go their way tonight.
First there was that weak-ass push off in the endzone that was called pass interference negating a touchdown...then Roethlisberger gets a gift touchdown given to him and then they have a holding call which negated a huge pass that would have had the Seahawks 1st and goal from the 1.
And then to top it all off they completely butchered their clock management closing out the game...and the first half for that matter too. Throw in several dropped passes and 2 missed field goals and that is your classic recipe for failure.
Seattle you showed your Super Bowl Rookie colours tonight.

It only has to touch the white line, not go over it. I think it was a TD for sure, cause it looked to me like the ball touched the line when Big Ben was in the air. There was one camera shot where they froze it when Rothlisberger was in the air with it, and it was touching the white line. Regardless, congrats to Pittsburgh, they earned it by winning the last 7 games of the year and then beating Indy and Dever on the road.

The Steelers definitely took the long hard road to the SB, you have to tip your hat to them for that alone, especially all on the road. If there's anything Seattle can take from the game is the learning experience, if they get another shot next year in the playoffs I suspect they will do better. But football is strange in that one year a team can be 14-2 and 7-9 the next.
The question now is what the hell do I do on Sundays? My wife will be happy now that football's over.

sorry LizardKing I was wrong when I said the ball has to only touch the line, according to http://www.nfl.com/fans/rules/definitions, it is a touchdown when "any part of the ball, legally in possession of a player inbounds, breaks the plane of the opponent’s goal line, provided it is not a touchback." so therefore even if 1mm of the ball broke the plane which is the beginning of the white line, then it is a touchdown. To me it looked like a little bit of the ball broke the start of the white line in the air.

I'm sure the wife has a very long list of chores waiting for you to complete, now would be the perfect time to beg for some overtime at work

I'm not a fan of either team, but I don't think that ball broke the plane. And it was one of those calls where there was no irrefutable evidence either way - in other words - had the official not called a touchdown, I don't think that call could have been reversed either.
And that offensive pass interference call in the endzone was W E A K.

i wouldnt call myself a diehard steelers fan, but a fan nonetheless. those were some pretty weak calls that would have drastically changed the entire game but c`est la vie i suppose....nice to see the bus go out on a note like that...doesn`t get any better :thumb:

I'm a Bengals fan, and the Steelers are our divisional rivals. Thus i feel i'm being very objective when i say that the refs called a fair game. Just because the Seahawks had to hold every other play to give Hasselbeck time to complete throws downfield doesn't mean the refs suck for calling penalities when it happened.
The offensive INT (pushoff) was legit, too. How clear does it have to be - he put his hands on the defender, extended them, pushing him away, then he turned around and caught the pass. How is that not pass inteference?
And thirdly Ben clearly broke the plane of the goal line with the football, which is a touchdown. Plain as day.
Sour grapes, anyone?

Must have been two different broadcasts...the one I saw clearly showed the ball did not break the plane of the goal line, in the air, on the ground, or any other way the "other" broadcast must have shown it.
I'll accept the offensive interference call as legitimate but the low block which was really a tackle was B.S.
Pittsburgh didn't win the game; it was awarded to them by the NFL. I'm not sure what's more disgusting, the piss-poor one-sided (and apparently blind) officiating or that Pittsburgh accepted the ill-gotten trophy.
I'm not football fan at all and could care less which team won but I'd at least like to see a fair competition with a legitimate outcome.
