The Hip refer to Algonquin Provincial Park in many songs, especially off of M@W. I am just curious to see if anybody knows how often the Hip visit Algonquin, or what lakes they camp on. I camp at Algonquin several times a year and I've always thought it would be soo incredibly cool to see "Gord Downie came paddlin' past, I'm pretty sure it was him..." haha. Thanks for your help.

"If and when you get into the endzone, act like you've been there a thousand times before."
Last time I was talking to Gord they usually hang out at the Brent Campground, near Cedar Lake. He invited me to come along near the end of April. Hope to see you there. Let me know if you need a ride.
Actually I'd be surprised if anyone here knew that info. We are fans, who buy tickets to see their shows. I don't have an interest in hangin' out with the band while they are on vacation.
But it would be cool.

Amen...
They aren't looking for any friends by playing music. I mean I wouldn't mind talking to them and meeting them, but it's just that I don't expect any of the boys to be like: "Wow Sean. Your so cool, here's my top secret e-mail address. By the way, here's an advanced copy of our album because your such a nice guy. By the way, what are you doing in July of this year? Want to come to Europe with us? Not only will we pay for your trip, but we'll pay you. But we can't pay you for doing nothing, so why don't you write the setlists for the shows?"
... i suppose I got carried away....
...I mean, I would be estatic if that DID happen though lol

Come on man, he's new. Cut him some slack.
This is an excellent opportunity to talk about Algonquin Park, though. I've been there a number of times. Butt Lake is the largest one I've camped on but I've stayed on any number of lakes in that area of the park. I love Algonquin.
Sorry guys,
I was just reading some previous posts and someone said "the last time I talked to Gord S....." so that made me think that there were some people on this forum that had some personal connections with the band. Anyways, I am a huge fan of Algonquin park - usually stay on Ralph Bice lake or North T. I am not a fan of bringing electronics while camping because it seems to ruin the wilderness experience of it all - but I would have no problem bringing a cd plyer with the Hip's catalogue along. Camping and the Hip just go together!

Too true, the Hip are the best complement to a camping trip, I cant think of another band I'd rather listen to around a fire. Except maybe Neil Young or The Doors for me.

You forgot Creed and Scott Stapp. Man I love watching those CD's burn

 Nice one! But dont get me started on that idiot, I'd rather get a lap dance from Rosie O'Donnell than listen to that loser.
i've spent the majority of my last 7 summers in algonquin and other ontario parks and for me and the folks i work and trip with the hip and canoe tripping are pretty much inseperable... certainly no electronics though, its all about sitting in the stern seat and singing away.
The "Last time I talked with..." comments almost exclusively refer to chance meetings, or after show meetings... nothing more.
Ok - I understand Chris, thanks!

Living in a national park is convenience at it's best. Banff and Northern/South Eastern Ontario are incomparable, however you cannot substitute one for another.
I will always have fond memories of hiking in Algonquin, Camping in Charleston, boating on the St. Lawrence, Canoeing in Bon Echo, and Beaching it on Sand Banks.
The parks in Ontario are VERY unique, and should be treasured.
My Dad proposed to my Mom in Algonquin, and My Brother did the same to my sister-in-law, it's a magical place.
