The thing I love about the TSL is the VPR switch, which essentially knocks it from a 100 watt to 25 watt amp. That way I get the sound that I like without having to keep the amp at ear splitting levels.
^^^^^ Interesting, didnt know that,. To me seems like more amps dont sound good till they are maxed out or at lest being pushed. But you're saying that you can cut the watts but still push it right?
Indeed. It cuts the output way down, so you can crank the volume to really push the tone.

I've found Marshalls really need to be pushed to get the right tone. But once it is warmed up, the amp sings.
I meant to post this a while back, but forgot about it. It was a response to a question to Rob about his gear that was handed off to me. Hope this helps.

If you want more answers to gear questions, then perhaps I can figure out a way to do it efficiently.

Sure enough I do use Mesa-Boogie Lonestar amps - I use 2 as a stereo
rig on large stages (such as an arena tour). The Lonestar(s) replaced
Mesa-Boogie Trem-o-Verbs which I used for a couple of tours and
albums. Before that it was Boogie Mark III's ( an '87 combo and '91head
and cab). For a while (Fully Completely and Day For Night) I used a
Boogie rack system - Tri-Axis pre-amp with a Strategy 500 power amp
with an Abacus footswitcher that turned out to be a giant pain in the
ass. More recently (like just before Christmas) I purchased a Trinity
2-10 with switchable AC15 to AC30 power - very similar to a vintage VOX
in tone and sensitivity but with greater flexibility and reliability.
