The record industry has done its best to clamp down on downloading. Now music publishers intend to clamp down on tab sites:

My take: Confusedcratch:

Do tab sites really cut into music publishers' profits?

Considering the number of artists for whom no sheet music or tab book is ever published, and considering that online "tab" mostly provides only the chords, I doubt it. Sure, some online tab is copied from tab books, but that's the minority.

Seems to me that the music publishers are falling prey to the same error that the record industry has, in thinking that tab sites must represent a giant untapped market to which they want exclusive access.

Oh good grief Charlie Brown. And I love this comment:

MPA president Lauren Keiser said he wanted site owners to be jailed.

Uh, OK.

Interesting that it says PearLyrics was taken down - I still use it. I mean, nevermind.
In my opinion, this comment was even more off the wall
"The Xerox machine was the big usurper of our potential income," he said. "But now the internet is taking more of a bite out of sheet music and printed music sales so we're taking a more proactive stance."

I think they should rename the MPA into the medieval music publishers guild, because that's were their thought process is, in the middle ages.
Quote:I play the drums mainly but I play the guitar as well. I run the website and I still buy the [tab] books," he said

*cough* Bullshit *cough*[/quote]
