I'm uploading a few songs from my PC for ringtones and I'm looking for ideas.
What song (specify which verse, riff etc.) should I use?
I don't know that you could beat the opening riff of NOIS...
Maybe the opener of Grace, Too, but that would be pretty quiet. Fire in the Hole might not be bad either.
I think a few bars of Gus would be a good...
Some of the intense parts of "Lake Fever" would kickass as a ringtone I think. Or maybe the opening riffs of "No Threat".

soquester, I think Katrina has ruined NOIS for me forever...or at least until I hear it live again in 06.
Now I have finally dragged my sorry ass into the 21st century & have got a phone that can play mp3s, then I have been thinking the very same thing.
I just need a good program to edit songs down as my phone plays all files from the start.
Thankfully I have 'Short music for short people' so have a wealth of files to choose from :-)

I made ringtones using the first 18 -22 seconds of Vaccination Scar, You're Everywhere, Goodnight Josephine, ABAC, Let's Stay Engaged, and two from Grace, Too, one starts at the beginning of the song and the other starts with the chords preceeding "..the secret rulles of engagement..." and includes the lyrics.
The program you'll need depends on the phone you have and who your carrier is. For my Nextel, I used
MyJal.

I have a Sony E K700i so have no idea what the software that came with it does as instruction manuals that are bigger than the product scare me...

I've always thought the opening bars to Pistols would make a great ring tone.
Comon...No Threat? Such a distinct opening riff....beats all those fruity asian pop ringtones
simply Weat Kings would work for me...
Why Bell doesn't have HIP ring tones or ringtunes I'll never know. But ring tunes which replace the rings a caller hears is a great thing.
