Escape is at Hand. Words cannot express how much I love that song. As RG said, its brilliant.

Runner-up would be Meridian, which holds a special place as its the first Hip song I ever heard.
can anyone imagine what life would be like without them???
Grace, Too

Bobcaygeon

Nautical Disaster

There are a ton of close seconds, though. For example, the whole Day for Night album. Best album ever recorded, period. (But I guess that's for another post  )
my pick(s) would have to be When the Weight Comes Down. everytime I listen to it I get all choked up, the lyrics are just so beautiful.
But I can't forget about Locked, its my favourite opening in a song EVER
I Had a couple Hip cd's back in the early 90's, even seen the band live in 93 but it wasn't until a "headphone-late-night-beer-drenched" listen to Nautical Disaster that I "got hooked" and understood how great this band truly is!

1.Nautical
2.Pistols (1st hip song i heard)
3.Escape
sorry...couldn't pick one...wheat kings on the couch, bobcaygeon drinking a beer in the back yard, 3 pistols driving to work

I would guess 54 40 would have had a more prosperous career...
Grace Too
....then Springtime in Vienna
..........then Pigeon Camera
I would have go with Nautical as well. It has been my favourite song since I heard it for the first time, in the middle of NOIS at ARA 93. Second would definetly be Meridian (especially the various live versions).
I,m not sure why, but Emperor Penguin has always been my favorite. Used to be Nautical until Phantom Power. The completist would probably be a close second.
CRACK MY SPINE LIKE A WHIP
Fireworks
Nautical
NOIS
38 Years Old
Wheat Kings
Fiddlers Green
Scared

Another one I've heard if I remember correctly the Hip have played a Gordon Lightfoot song called "Summerside of Life". Has anyone else heard these? Do you know where to find them?

They played this at a show I was at in 95, Markham fairgrounds, Another Roadside Attraction. Great song with Spirit of the West helping out. I used to have the tape, so it does exist.[/quote]
