First off, sorry Chris, I wasn;t sure whether to post here or in the non-hip section

A friends kid (10yrs old) is doing a classrom presentation on music they like and she has decided to do it on The Hip since they are not overly common for kids her age. Anyways they have to put on an oral presentation and get extra marks for being creative. The other day a kid did their project on East Coast music and brought in Molasis (spelling?0 cookies for everyone since that is related to East Coast (I guess?? is that true Ron??)

So now............I am racking my brain for what she could take into her class that would be related to The Hip. I was trying to think of something related to Kingston (maybe a hunk of limestone or something) or possibly since they have been together 20 years, maybe something related to 1985..............

Can anyone out there do a bit of brainstorming and think of what she might be able to take in and distribute to her class??

Thanks in Advance! :thumb:
Hmm! I'd have to say maybe some handouts of Tom Thomson's work? Or maybe a little collage of all the Canadian things they have covered in their music? Sorry I'm not much for ideas at this time of night. Cool assignment idea though!
Save up their chicken wing bones until the presentation and then give each student a little bone.

Show a movie shot in their hometown.

Hand out pictures of Doug Gilmour, Kirk Muller, and Dan Aykroyd, all also from Kingston.

Is there footage of Barilko's Cup-winning goal in '51?

Show footage of Henderson's goal, the one everyone remembers.

A nice intro to her presentation would be footage from the Junos for their induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Have to keep the search police happy.

How about highlighting the Walk of Fame?

this may not be appropiate for the child in question, but if i had a son, i could see him strolling into the classroom, lighting up a pinkie sized doobie rolled up with BC`s finest, to the sounds of "one night in copenhagen" Big Grin
Thanks all for your thoughts guys! But it finally hit me, something nice and easy that is a great tie in................

I am going to set it up where she also talks about all the charity work they do and then make a donation to Camp Trillium in the classes name. :thumb:

Camp Trillium is only about 20 minutes away, so its a perfect tie in to the Hip and a perfect tie in to a great local charity!

hahah well I'm Nova Scotian, born and raised, and I've never been informed of our apparent love of molasses. Perhaps the tradition (sounds French/Acadian to me) lies with those crazy New Brunswickers, but then again they aren't truly members of the east coast though they may like to think they are. 8)
You should lock one of the students in the trunk of a car. 8)
