Former tour manager, Dave Powel, famous for being the birthday boy from the Hengelo show, writer of emails in the early days, all that jazz. Turns out he's a Master's student here with me at Lakehead. How's that for small world?
I'm hoping to talk with him, if he's willing to talk about his time with the band. From the first meeting I had with him a couple of weeks ago, he seems like a hell of a guy. He was even wearing a 9:30 Club t-shirt. Didn't know at the time though who he was, and while talking "Hip" with a couple of the guys in my program tonight he came up.
Cool huh? Maybe I can craft a story out of this for the paper.

If you get the chance, ask him about Pigeon Camera. How much of the "spying on his sister stuff" is real, and how much of it a rib. The guys in the band seem to chuckle and avoid straight answers when I've asked about it... and I'd guess that Hengelo show is a conversation in itself. Hope it goes well for ya.
