According to an Article from the New University Paper, UC Irvine, Calif,:
"Feist started singing as a teen in a punk band and then played guitar in the rock band The Tragically Hip before putting out her first solo album in 1999. "

Any info?
That's a stunner! And incorrect as far as I know. Perhaps the author misunderstood their info - Leslie Feist played guitar for By Divine Right who opened for The Hip.
That threw me for a loop when I read her bio the first time, because I had no idea where Feist was coming from. Figured she was just Broken Social Scene member #429.
Funny, never really liked By Devine Right as a whole, but seem to love them in their solo projects (Feist's "Let It Die", Borchect's (sp) Holy Fuck electronic act).

Wait until you hear the Holy F**k record..actually, I just finished a tour playing drums with them this summer. The Remains Of Brian Borcherdt discs are great, too.
Also check out Wintersleep and Jill Barber.
Hey Littleproud, did you play the Holy Fuck show during NXNE? That was easilly the most impressed I've ever been with a band I've never heard of.
I can't wait for the record -- when's it coming out?
Cheers
Pat
The Holy Fuck album is available to be ordered from the dependent music website. There's also a slaight of new tour dates -- maybe I should fly into Kingston for a one nighter with the old friends and some rock and roll
