This question is mainly for MAv, but if anybody else can answer or just wants to leave thoughts, I suppose that that is cool too Smile . I'm just wondering if I will seriously ever get sent anything in the mail from thehip.com, and, seeing as I only signed up after the IBE tour, if there ever has been anything sent out to anybody. I know in the past that there has been alot of voiced opinions about having a "Pearl Jam-esque" club/mailing list. And in case there really isn't all that much planned, I would just like it to be known that even a newsletter from the official site would be cool to get in the mail. Thanks alot :thumb:

PS: Keep up the great work, MAv
It has been years Sean.
Probably since LBU came out.
But do you know about the old Tales From The Hip newsletters?
Pretty cool things.

snail mail, or email?

I doubt they do much with snailmail anymore, and perhaps rightly so. It had to have been pretty expensive to mail the old "Tales From The Hip" to fans for free, and lets face it, snailmail simply isn't practical anymore.

As for email, there's been plenty of emails sent courtesy of thehip.com over the years. At times it seemed that the management of current email addresses was checkered, but that's going back a number of years (refering to personal experience here).

I can share a cool story about the days of snailmail. In the summer of '96, I did not yet use email so I mailed The Hip a letter. Just a general message saying "Thanks, I love your music, etc". A few weeks later I got an envelope in the mail with a return addressee of "Thip." I really didn't know who this "thip" person was or why he/she/it was sending me mail, but I went ahead and opened it. It was a sticker of the Henhouse album cover. I thought "duh....'thip'....I get it now."
snailmail just creates more waste.

I was just looking at some old copies of "Tales from the Hip"....and I got to wondering......just how many copies of "Tales from The Hip" were there? I used the search tool and found this thread and picture. I have the white issue that's shown in the JPG, but those 2 yellow ones aren't familiar, even though they appear to be from around the same time...

Here's what I have hard copies of:
Fall '95
Spring '96
Summer '96
Phanton Edition Fall/Winter '98

Can anyone add to that? And I have to say this whole internet/email thing is cool, but there's something very cool and nostalgic about having those old letters.

Oops, I had a misprint...I have the Summer '95 version (not Fall), so it would appear that their were 7 issues, and you have the full set!
