I have never done one before, from what I understand is that you give them your banking information. I am just alittle worried about the person I only know through ebay having my info.
Anyone have any possitive or negative experiences?
I wired transferred money all over the planet when I was working in Asia, to travel agents, friends, etc...
Nothing anybody can do with the information you provide for a wire transfer -- don't worry about it! :thumb:

I wouldnt be so sure about that. At work, we gave our banking info out to a supposed eBay customer (said he was from germany) and the next thing we knew - we were getting calls from our bank on suspicious activity. Apparently, they took our banking info, logged on to q-checks.com, opened an account and started writing checks on our account totaling about $11K. Fortunately for us, our bank caught it in time and we lost no money. After that, we had to close the account and change all of our e-commerce information. It was a real pain in the a**.
Lance - I would check into the eBayer a little further before giving your bank info out. If this is something you plan on doing quite a bit - you may want to open a separate account for such purposes.

I might have to do that. I am really not sure how much I will be doing this. Maybe I will just try and get the person to go half/half on paypal fees or something like that. Just seems like too much of a risk.
Yah, that q-checks scam is a recent development; forgot about that one. It was a few years ago, before internet checking, etc, so never had to worry about it...
I'm surprised any bank or any person would accept/clear a q-chek!

Although I have never initiated a wire transfer, I've worked as a teller for about four years (shoot me) and have conducted many a wire transfer (especially when I worked in downtown Ottawa).
Although you may be nervous about giving out your banking information, ie. Transit, Institution and Account number, your bank will protect you from all types of fraud, such as cheque fraud, bank card fraud (which is really spiraling out of control) and online transaction fraud assuming you don't disclose your PIN number, or put yourself in a position to be easily compromised.
These days a wire transfer is much safer than using your debit card at the gas station.

i wouldnt send a wire transfer...there is no way of tracing it. I did it one time and the guy ripped me :x ...says he never heard of paypal and shit like that...send a postal money order or use paypal...at least your portected that way. And if it sounds to good to be tru...IT IS...
