I recently dug up a CD I burned in 1999 that had some Hip concerts in MP3 on it. Turns out that the concert that I'd labelled as "The Roxy", well, isn't. Well, that's not true, some of the tracks are, but others aren't even on either setlist for the two shows the Hip did there.

Given that Gord's ramblings are like fingerprints, I hope they can be used to identify which concert these tracks are actually from. I'm sure there's more than one concert represented in these tracks.

Anyhow, here they are.

Blow At High Dough - "same Marty McSorley thing..."
Bring It All Back - "For the sand rubies(?) of Tuscon, Arizona, everybody."
Cordelia - nothing non-standard
Courage - "It's a beautiful stage, beautiful mahogany wood..."
Highway Girl - doublesuicide
Lionized - nothing non-standard
Little Bones - "Beauty won't save the world, but a teeny tiny cat could."
New Orleans Is Sinking - killerwhaletank
On The Verge - "I'm on the verge, I'm on the verge, eureka! I'm on the verge!"
She Didn't Know - "You alright, Gordie?" "Thanks, thanks a lot, merci..."
Three Pistols - "Here's one of many, one of many Canadian myths, like many Canadian myths, just happens to be true."
Twist My Arm - "You'll get your tune if you stop shouting it."
We'll Go Too - "Being in a rock and roll road crew they're all nihilists or nihilists..."

Any help would be muchly appreciated!

These are from the 1993-04-26 Roxy show in Los Angeles, CA
double suicide and killerwhaletank are both from The Roxy show. There might be a couple in there I missed.

Actually, I believe they are from two different Roxy shows. Double Suicide comes from 05/03/91 and KWT comes from 04/26/93.

I think that because both songs were included in the widely circulated "Roxy and Elsewhere" bootleg, many people mistakenly think they are both from the same show.
Killerwhaletank is from the first Roxy show. The rant on 4/26/03 is far superior to the Killerwhaletank (in my opinion), as it includes bits of the Luxury, Dan Lanlois' The Maker and a story about a lighthouse keeper who destroys a nuclear submarine.

If you listen very closely to the Highway Girl on that boot there appears to be a very sudden cut after the song ends. I've been convinced in the past that Double Suicide was not performed at the Roxy that night, and in fact is one of the Elsewhere songs.

Hey Mav, think anyone in the band might be able to shed some light on this? I know it was 14 hazy years ago, but if anyone could give the definitive answer it would be them

Cheers

Pat
Bring it all Back is from the Roxy in LA, April 1993. The Sand Rubies are a band from Tucson, AZ. I saw The Hip the week before this LA show in Tucson, AZ but there was no opening band. I just know the Sand Rubies from living there for 4 years.
Okay, so it's definitely songs from both Roxy concerts. That's cool. Now I know, and I don't have to go on deluding myself with the belief that they're all from one concert. Smile

The Double Suicide is probably the best live recording of the Hip that I've heard. I like it when he's like "Thats my story and i'm sticking to it......They said, don't you think Gord you push a bit too fast", and then the band starts playing loud again, it's sweet.
