Well folks, school is back in this week and fall is slowly starting to kick in. So what's been frozen in your CD player over the past three months? For me it's been:

1. Cuff the Duke- Cuff the Duke
The perfect summer record. Quirky alt-country pop with great songs and instantly catchy melodies. Makes ya wanna sing along at the top of your lungs everytime you put it on. Sounds especially wonderful when sitting on the back porch of a house on Vancouver Island overlooking the ocean.

2. Son Volt- Okemah and the Melody of Riot
And you thought "American Idiot" was political? This is the sound of Jay Farrar gettin angry with America, cranking his amp up to 11, and delivering his strongest effort since "Trace". A brilliant record.

3. Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir- The High Co$t of Low Living
For me this is one of the strongest albums of the year so far. It's got a bit of everything: rock, country, new wave, and old school punk-rock all rolled into one. Great songs, great lyrics, and a kick-ass delivery by Hugh. I love it. Can't wait to see these guys tomorrow night in Calgary.

4. Matt Mays & El Torpedo- Self-titled
Rock n' freakin roll, baby! 14 whopping tracks and not a single dud on the entire thing. That's pretty rare these days. Great songs. Great band.

5. Arcade Fire- Funeral
This album has obviously been out for a while, but I only discovered it this summer, and oh what a discovery it was. An absolutely gorgeous record. Definitely one of the most unique bands this country has ever produced.

Im not sure if you mean albums that have been released in 05 or just anything, but my five are:

1. Foo Fighters- In Your Honor (rock disc)
2. The White Stripes- De Stijl
3. The White Stripes- Get Behind Me Satan
4. The Cult- The Singles 1984-1995
5. The Killers- Hot Fuss

You guys make me wish I was able to download music, but my college server doesn't allow it, and I'm too poor to go out and buy every album you suggest

Good call Ron. There doesn't seem to be many people into the new Weezer cd. It certainly isn't their best but it is what it is- fun rock with silly lyrics.

2. Uncle Tupelo - Anthology Saw Jeff Tweedy in Calgary and he played "New Madrid". Its on this album and is good enough to be a Wilco song

3. Beck - Guero saw him in Vancouver this summer and this album rivals Sea Change as his best

4. Athlete - Tourist I am so tempted to fly out and see them in Vancouver but I know if I keep going to all these shows I will have to start eating old concert tickets to survive

5. Death Cab - John Byrd E.P. (Live) Saw them last winter in Vancouver...see why I am broke?
