Pretty sure posters are $25. There's a few signed and numbered posters available at bigpoprecords.com after the show for $60 US, but they go pretty fast.
Cool letter from Eddie Spaghetti on the road with Pearl Jam came in the inbox today:
They should never have given us a taste of this action. This kind of touring is so sweet and so nice and so easy, it's hardly like touring at all! Can I just say that the Pearl Jam people have it made? Well, they do. In case you don't know, we're out on the road in Canada, warming up the crowd for Pearl Jam, some of the nicest guys in rock. Not only are the band members totally cool, the crew is super-nice too. We're getting wicked spoiled out here!
Here's a little sample of how our day goes:
We get to the club, er, uh, I mean, Enormodome at about 4:00pm and load the gear in. (Well, I don't load it in, but somebody does). Then we all head to the dressing room, (which is usually the locker room of whatever hockey team's dome we're playing at - the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, etc...) where all the beer and snacks are. But you gotta be careful not to load up on chips and stuff because the catering is AWESOME. We're talking prime rib, poached salmon, pork tenderloin, great soups and salads and all the desserts you could ever imagine. I guess that's why there's a Yoga instructor on the tour - this food will make you fat! (That's right, a yoga instructor!)
After we hit the dressing room (Where my boy, Quattro, puts on his helmet and takes his Razor scooter all over the venue - "see ya later dad!") we actually get a nice, long soundcheck which I don't think is all that common in this world. The sound on stage is incredible too, just perfect. After soundcheck we hit the catering room (see above) and then have some time to chill. I've been taking this time to bone up on my ping-pong skills. I've always fancied myself a pretty bad man on the table tennis scene but Stone Gossard took me down in a brutal battle the other night, so I've got some work to do! To be fair though, they get to play it almost every night and I've never even been to rehab, so I get to play very sporadically. Then it's show time. The crowds have been way better than I thought they would be. Real receptive to a band that's just "in the way" of their Pearl Jam experience. I was expecting some cold audiences but they've been giving it up for the Supersuckers. Of course, why shouldn't they? We totally rock!!!
After that we usually watch a little of their show, walk around the crowd, check out the t-shirt booths and then head back to the hotel for some pool and hot tub action. We're usually in bed by 11:00 and if you don't think that's rock-n-roll, then you don't know rock-n-roll like I do! It's gonna be hard getting back into the clubs after these shows. Back to working hard and staying up late in the smoky dumps across the country. But we will. That's our natural environment, I suppose, and it still beats digging a ditch for a living! We'll be done with Pearl Jam in a few days and then we'll make our way through the "heartland" of the States towards Farm Aid in Chicago on the 18th.
Man, we're gonna miss this kind of touring.
But we still have lots of great things coming up - my newest solo record, "Old No. 2" is coming soon (don't forget to pre-order it here. Comes with a free DVD!) and The Supersuckers are going to be hitting the studio when we get home to lay down some of this tasty rock we've been mining lately.
So stick with us folks, we are slowly but surely winning the war against mediocrity, one Pearl Jam fan at a time. These are EXACTLY the kind of crowds we need to play to --they like rock, they wanna rock and they dig it when they get to rock. They just never got exposed to the majesty of the Supersuckers until, thanks to Pearl Jam, now. We get to give 'em what they need when they least expect it. I hope we get more of this opportunity.
Thanks for you time,
