Ovechkin is available now boys. Usually rookies arent' available until they play their first game, except for special cases like Crosby. I waited until 1am last night to pick Ovechkin with no avail, i grabbed him this morning right after smashing the alarm clock; i just hope nobody else had the same idea but i can't tell until he clears waivers Oct. 8th :jump .
I had a feeling that was going to happen. I didn't have time to look this morning I overslept a bit, dammit!! :x I still have a good team, Im not worried. J.R bagged a pair last nite for me. :thumb:
Sorry nutsac, but the fantasy site said that Ovechkin was still available so I tried to nab him to, just in case. Im assuming it will stay like that and whoever goes for him first gets him. But you never know what can happen so I did it anyways.

doesn't a waiver guy usually go to the guy with the higher waiver priority who claims him regardless of when he puts the claim in (provided the claim is within the waiver period). That's how it works in my Yahoo pool anyway.

Yup, you're right Chris...In all Yahoo! pools, whoever has the highest waiver priority number (ie. the lowest number next to their team name on the main page has the first shot at any waived player when the waiver period for that player expires. This order is originally set as the reverse of the initial draft order...
In other words, if you drafted in the first half of your pool, it's pretty safe to say you can forget about Ovechkin...
The guy who drafted last in my pool has made it very clear to the rest of us not to bother wasting a waiver claim on him...

Yeah, sucks for the Leafs for sure. Bad luck for you Chris... but it's a long season yet, so who knows what will happen?
I claimed Ovechkin on waivers too. It says the waivers need to clear by the 9th, so I guess we find out who got him on the 9th.
I guess that means he's mine...as I have waiver number 1...
I think I'll take a chance on him...I doubt he's gonna snipe 2 a game but the kid has pure goal scoring ability.

that would mean he's yours.
that would also mean that it's not a good plan to trumpet who you've claimed on waivers, unless you have number 1 priority. Not that it would make a difference for Ovechkin, about whom everybody knows, but if you're trying to slide in a secret pick, then keep quiet until waivers are cleared. Also (more fantasy tactics) it may be wise in some cases to wait until a guy clears waivers and then claim his as a free agent [i.e. if it's unlikely that anybody else is going to snag him], so that you don't lose your spot in the waiver priority order. Every time you claim a guy with waivers, you go to the back of the line.
