For all the Bob Dylan fans out there, check this out!



In an event that brought together two of America’s most influential and revered cultural innovators, “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan” will make its U.S. broadcast premiere on the award-winning “American Masters” series Monday and Tuesday, September 26-27 at 9 p.m. EST on PBS (check your local listings).

The two-part film, directed by Martin Scorsese, focuses on Dylan’s life and music from 1961-66 and includes never-seen footage from the Bob Dylan Archives and interviews with Allen Ginsberg, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and other artists and musicians whose lives intertwined with Dylan’s during that time.

A DVD version of the documentary, featuring additional never-before-seen footage, will be released on September 20. Apple will present the DVD and international version of “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan,” and is the corporate underwriter of the PBS broadcast.

That sounds pretty sweet.

i'm countin' the days until its release. with scorsese heading it up, its bound to be great.

Not only a DVD, but an accompanying soundtrack. And we get the release of the Gaslight Tapes this month, too. It's good to be a Dylan fan at the moment.

That trailer looks amazing, especially when you consider how rarely Dylan gives interviews and how hostile he usually is to interviewers.

Due to general laziness on my behalf, playing rec hockey three times a week, being busy at work, raising a 13 month old baby, and dealing with a 6 year old Yellow Lab who still thinks she's 6 months old, I didn't have a chance to watch this until this weekend. In a word: brilliant.

Seriously, even if you are just a music fan in general, you should check this out.

My favourite moment - laugh out loud funny - was when some interviewer asks Dylan: So, how many singers are there out there that you would classify as protest singers?

Dylan stops, repeats the question, and says in all seriousness: About 136.

The interviewer asks, incredulously: 136?

To which Dylan says: Yeah, or 142.

Or.... "Suck your glasses."

Yes, a great film.

I totally agree with everybody here. It's a brilliant film, and definitely one of the best music documentaries I've ever seen.

And may I add, yes, this is something you should watch even if you are just a general music fan rather than a Dylan fan.

You will understand what made Dylan's reputation, but more than that, you'll find yourself saying, holy shit, this is what rock 'n roll is all about, this funny-looking guy derisively singing "its all over now, baby blue" to the fans that booed him.

Last line uttered in the movie, Dylan to The Band: "Play it fucking loud!"
