Any other users out there? What do you think of the new layout? I dig it. Way better looking than the previous "look mom, I just learned HTML" look.
For the uninitiated, it's a pretty cool idea. You download a plugin which tracks the music you are playing on your computer. The site keeps track of this and lets you know who has a similar taste in music so that you can browse their list and check out some new artists you might not have heard of before. Highly recommended.

And if you don't like it, then I will pay this guy to diss your momma.

Really cool site. I've been using it now for a few weeks and love it. I wish there was a way to update it with songs I play away from the computer like on my ipod or in the car.
The new layout looks awesome, my only issue with it is how long it takes to load up now. Other than that it's a really cool site/idea.

For Mac it has an iPod setting enabling you to update your playlist.
Last.FM is the coolest thing to hit the Net. Well, next to MAv, I guess. :wink:
The new layout was well worth the wait. I'm trying to start a revolution in the Hip group; I've posted in it a couple of times with nary a response, which on a music appreciation site, is unacceptable. Why start or join a group if you're not going to read the forum and reply to the threads?
If you haven't already, check out the groups and the "politics" link and register your interest in a revolt. Between
ModBlog and
Last.FM, I'm becoming obsessed.

I did join the group over there and have looked around a bit at the very few posts in it. I'll register my intrest in a revolt since isn't it the group leader in there with a topic about how IBE sucks? Why start a group and then slag on one of their albums? strange.
the site seems to be working faster now too, the new format's awesome, really cool site.

I signed up for the scrobbler and I'm ready to rock and possibly roll...but nothing is happening in terms of creating my own personal music library..nor do I have one of those fancy "look at what I was just listening to" lists underneath my name...I'm thinking I should have read the manual!!!
"Congratulations on your download of the 2005 iScrobbler you will find your life will not be the same after 1 day with it...now all you need to do is complete the next 1476 actions and you'll be ready to start"
Someone help a brother out...damn I'm stupid
Goulet!!!
Nah, it's not you. It takes awhile for it to build up your profile. I think I played about 100 songs before anything showed up for me. Just sit tight and let the music play.

Did you go get a plugin for your player? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.last.fm/help/plugin/">http://www.last.fm/help/plugin/</a><!-- m -->
does take awhile to get the tunes built up though.
As for the "fancy lists" Try out this site: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.goodaim.net/audioscrobbler/">http://www.goodaim.net/audioscrobbler/</a><!-- m -->
I got a message today from Audioscrobbler.
Quote:Apologies for recent problems with the site
Hi,
For the last week we've been recovering from some server problems, and the site has been somewhat unreliable regarding data collection and browsing statistics.
We were very unlucky with multiple concurrent hardware failures last week, and unfortunately we have lost three weeks of tagging data for a minority of users (including yourself). This does not affect your song submissions, but if you have tagged songs in the last few weeks, you may have to re-tag them.
We apologise unreservedly, and by way of apology we are upgrading accounts for people that have been inconvenienced. Effective immediately, your account now has 'subscriber' privileges for the rest of 2005.
If you were already a subscriber, your subscription will be extended free of charge.
Features available to subscribers can be viewed here.
We've also just released some new features, read about them on the front page of the site.
Regards,
The Last.fm Team
Too bad it's only free for a month, but I've checking out some of the membership features and this thing is pretty cool. The Radio station's that open up for you are great. :thumb:
