really? 'Cause I always kinda thought it was a little sad.... besides the upbeat melody.
"Go home. I'd be surprised
If you could find it with those eyes."
"Ah. go ahead and get hit by a bus."
It was the look in your eyes
When you said something like
"It's just us."
Tears streaming down my cheeks,
"Just take me down to Lansdowne Street.
Fenway Park? C'mon, it's not like they keep it hid!"
It was the look in your eyes you said,
"No one's going to hurt me like you did."
Rolling Over it a thousand times
In the narrow flume of my mind.
O what I'd give for just one small caress.
It was the look in your eyes
When you said something like
"Yer possessed."
You're possessed.
(thanks to Mr. Dame, I didn't have to type this out...

I just love the way he works Fenway Park in there.
And remember, this is the guy who wrote a bubbly marching tune about a mother screaming over her dying son on a submarine. He could make murder a medly I'm sure.
And thanks to Mrs. Warner, I realized I fucked up and put a period where there should be a comma in those lyrics.

I never thought about it before, but the song has the same sort of quality as "No Rain" by Blind Melon. In essence, it's a sad song, but it sounds very happy and uplifting.
Interesting...

That is the same thing he did with Pascals Submarine.

Any song with tuba is pretty damn happy...I liken this song to the Muppet Show theme, musically...which is a good thing.
Doesn't Andy Maize (Skydiggers) play the tuba on this track?

According to the liner notes its Dave Clark playing the tuba.
Andy Maize plays trumpet on Every Irrelevance

"Go ahead and get hit by a bus".. What a fantastic line. This is just one of many GEMS on Coke Machine Glow which showcases some of Gord's other musical interests as well as some pretty gnarly indie musicians.

I was just in Boston and did a tour of Fenway (Sox were out of town; not that you can get tix anyway, except from scalpers).
Could not stop singing: "Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Fenway Park, it's not like the keep it hid" and "Take me away to Landsdowne Street". And it's true, they don't keep it hid. Everywhere in the area you can see the CITGO sign and the light standards.
Great way to see the park for $12 bucks admission ... versus $100 or so for a game. Tour guide was great and was wearing the huge World Series ring.
Tried to get my wife to sing along, but she just looked at me funny.
