Hey all-
Curious if any 'basers have spent any time in Poland? For vacations, travelling through, whatever. If anyone has, I'd love to hear about it, what cities you were in, what you thought of everything, etc....
Thanks guys...
Never been to Poland - but if you go - try and check this pub out:

Not sure where it is, but Im sure you can google it and find out.
I was there for 4-5 days in Oct. 1998 as part of a longer bus tour through central Europe. Crossed over from Germany and went to Warsaw via Poznan, then south via Czestochowa to Karakow, and then into Slovakia. By far the best place to visit is Krakow. Beautiful city, managed to escape being bombed in WWII, so walking around it feels like you've been transported back a few centuries. Interesting things around Krakow too, like a salt mine that could be an underground city, the mountains to the south, and of course Auschwitz. I'm glad I went there but I would never go back. Actually I think everyone should go there once and hopefully they will be so appalled that nothing like that would happen again. Creepy. Warsaw is nothing exciting - over 90 pct of the city was destroyed in the war and most of it was rebuilt by the Soviets so it is basically charmless. People in Poland were nice, food was, um, interesting. Not for vegetarians! I didn't get up north to Gdansk but I have a friend who did and she said that area was nice.
Are you planning a trip?
