To be honest, I did want to go to this show, but since I can't, at least I can still see the show. True, not the same as being there, but it's nice not to have to fight the traffic, spend $$ on parking, food, etc...
Well between my wife and I & 3 computers we grabbed 6 tickets and are planning to join another couple and bring our kids who are young....

We figure this is something that will be remembered for a long time. I am quite fine without K-OS and other so called HOT CURRENT bands... The Line-up is pretty heavy if you look at it and it's about the CAUSE & EVENT itself.... for my kids to look back and see video or pics of themselves at this show will be worth it!

Quote:DJ suspended for on-air bid to add Stompin' Tom to Live 8

An Ottawa radio station has suspended one of its DJs for playing the music of Stompin' Tom Connors non-stop in a bid to get the Canadian music legend added to the Live 8 concert in Barrie, Ont.

DJ Jeff Brown started his all-Stompin' Tom show on the spur of the moment Tuesday afternoon. He had to rely on Big Joe Mufferaw, the one Stompin' Tom song CHEZ 106 had in its library, for the first part of what would eventually be a three-hour show. He played it six times before someone could run to his house and pick up some more CDs.

hahah
I was listening to the station (Chez 106) that day in Ottawa. What bothered me is that while this DJ (Jeff Brown) was trying to make a point that Stompin' Tom had been overlooked and neglected, the station itself only owns 1 Stompin' Tom single.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Oh well I too had no luck, so if some unfortunate soul can't use their tickets. I'll be in line too!!!

I was SO angered to hear the news last night, discussing how the line-up was not spectacular! All I could think, is how negetive this world has gotten, to actually diss these amazing artists who have lined up for this cause, and to DONATE their time and talent to raise the awareness of such an important cause, and the gosh darn Canadian media can ONLY report how un-hip the line up is!!!!! WOW shake your heads people and stop to smell a few flowers!

I think the journalists are just disappointed that some of our country's hottest acts aren't participating. Artists like the Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Feist, and Ron Sexsmith are strangely absent from the bill in favor of washed-up has beens like Deep Purple and Motley Crue. I mentioned in another post how surprised I was that Neil Young wasn't taking part. Usually he's all over stuff like this.

And anybody who thinks Motley Crue is doing this show for anything other than a well-publicized photo op are kidding themselves.

My theory is that they didn't get through all the Toronto groupies with their most recent stop there.

Ew.

hehehe

it's been hilarious listening the CHEZ 106 the past few days

but I think a lot of people are missing the point of this concert, ever since its been announced with the lineup, all we've heard is who is playing, who is not, etc...
Nothing about what the concert is for.

But thats what the media is there for I guess, usually screwing up things and causing a stir.
I was lucky and grabbed a pair, but what a shame thats its going to be held in barrie with the so called capacity of 38K more like 30k as mentioned above, too bad toronto couldnt come through, we would of had so much room you might have not even needed a ticket.
Called my parents last night from Banff and asked them to get me tickets... and they did. Gotta love 'em!

Now I just have to convince them to drive from Ottawa to Kingston to get the tickets... Smile

Sooo... I'm excited! Hooray for the summer Hip fix!
For a very obvious reason I didn“t even try to get tickets. Darn, wish I could be there though...

yuk, yuk, yuk.

Am I the only person around here with zero interest in this concert? I think I need my awareness level raised. I think they should do some festival-type concerts around the world to raise awareness that they're holding Live 8 concerts around the world to raise awareness about ... something or other ... something to do with Motley Crue, I think.

we're going too....8 of us all driving up from London....can't wait!!! Anyone know if there'll be a beer tent there? I know there usually is at molson park, but with free tickets, charity, etc....just wondering how that'll work....but I'm the driver anyway, so no suds for me!

People keep referring to this as a charity event; it isn't. No money is being raised and donated to any charity. The goal, albeit a bit silly, is to raise awareness of the situation in poverty stricken nations.

With that said, I'll be there, and I can't see Molson missing out on an opportunity to sell overpriced beer or Pizza Pizza to sell $5 slices of cardboard.
