Saw it this afternoon. Great flick! It's dark, it's violent, it's got a great story, and Christian Bale is perfect in the lead role. I didn't realize this movie had such a great cast! Michael Caine was especially cool as Alfred. Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman were excellent as well. Even Katie Cruise-Holmes was pretty decent. Overall, a nice return to form for the dark knight.
I can sum it up even better than that:
Greatest. Movie. EVER.

I keep hearing how good this movie is... can't wait to see it now. Is it true that it is nothing like the other Batman movies? I heard the director wanted nothing to do with that series.

Yup. The essential Batman story is still there, but it's got a totally different feel to it. Where the other four movies were fairly cheesy and cartoonish, this one is very serious and dark. Christian Bale brings a real menace to the character that wasn't there in the other films. Long story short, Batman is a total badass in this flick. It's great!
I still like Tim Burton's version, but the new one is definitely the best Batman film ever made (so far).

It's a great movie, but it's definatly different from the other Batman movies. It's really, really dark, lots of innocent people die and the Scarecrow is one creepy bastard. Hell, the movie even has flesh-eating zombies (sort of). The last half hour or so of the movie is basically a horror movie with ninjas.

Cool....I can't wait to see it. I really enjoy Christian Bale so I figured the movie couldn't have turned out that bad. I still can't understand why they picked Katie Holmes for the lead female role...she still looks like a teenager from Dawson's Creek. Hopefully she doesn't take up too much of the film.

was SO glad they want back to the dark theme like in the first 2. batman begins, and the original with michael keaton are by far the best.
This movie shows how shitty all other comic book movies are. Including the old Batman ones. I was watching Batman Forever, and Batman punched this bad guy and it made a "boing!" sound. I felt like puking.
Saw it yesterday.

Just wanted to add my comments to this thread... I saw this movie on the weekend, and boy did it kick ass! I though Christian Bale nailed the essence of Batman. And the acting talents of Liam Neeson, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman add a lot to this movie.
Very impressive! I'd recommend it to anybody.
Kewl. Def want to see this. Speaking of Ms. Cruise Holmes, anyone see the war of the worlds?
