Can't wait to see how he spins this. If the numbers are right, by refusing to accept the owners' offer of a $42.5 million cap in February, Goodenow has pissed away a potential of
$1.3 billion in salaries over the life of the deal. Nice work Bob! Way to earn that $3 million annual salary.

I don't know if it will happen, but I wouldn't put it past Bobby G. to say something like "I tried to hold out for a better deal for the players, but they got desperate and wanted to jump at whatever Bettman offered, so my hands were tied."

Pittsburgh Penguins owner-player Mario Lemieux said NHLers will almost certainly get a much worse deal in the soon-to-be-approved labour agreement than they would have got by accepting the owners' offer in February.
''Back in February, the (salary) cap was at $42.5 million (US), that was the offer from the owners; now it looks like it's going to be a lot less than that,'' Lemieux said Thursday at his charity golf tournament.

You've got to love Saskin's quote:
"The parties are still negotiating and so it is only prudent for evaluation of the agreement to take place once it is completed," Saskin said in a statement issued by the NHLPA. "To evaluate one specific component of the agreement could lead to an inaccurate assessment."
Yeah, I'm sure whatever other concessions the PA gets the owners to agree to will more than compensate for accepting even less money than they could have gotten in Feb, not to mention the lost paycheques from last season. :roll:
