So last week I get in an arguement over who has the better name for a Hip cover band. I come up with "The Artificial Hip". Buddy says "The Hip Replacement". I figure mine blows his clean out of the water but amazingly the table was split.

Tell me how much better mine is and then I will cram the results down his throat. Thanks.
In my mind they are both pretty weak. But I woul dhave to go with the hip replacement. BUt truth be told, if I saw either name on the bill i likely wouldnt go.

I like the somewhat unrelated names. Like "The Wheat Kings".
Good luck with your argument though!
I like "The Artificially Hip", just to riff on the suggestion.

I'd vote for yours.

me too!
I figure if I ever start up a Hip cover band it will be called Escape Is At Hand.
I'd call my hip cover-band "Day for Night".....
Either "Trouble at the Henhouse" or "The Completists"...
i saw a great tribute band a few years back called road apples..the singer was amazing..really brought the intensity to the show
i'd call my hip cover band "Little Christians in a Circle Jerk"
Isn't ther a band called "Weathervane Jesus"? I don't know if they're a Hip cover band or not, but I was disappointed when I saw that the name had been used. Not that I plan a band of my own or anything.
I think imitation bands are pathetic actually. Being in a band and covering a few songs is one thing. but imitation is a joke. Get a life and get some talent, get creative and make some of your own music.
Road Apples was from Kingston and toured extensively across Canada...one time even following the Hip's tour dates and playing bars.

Lead singer Mike Compeau did the best Gord imitations to date and with good reason, he was a neighboour who would often watch the band practise. He is now a golf pro in Ktown and is still friends with the band...me thinks. Tongue

Glad he decided to grow up, and to be a golf pro to boot. Dream Job.

Different strokes and such, right?
"Something On" would be my pick. But the best name ever is ROAD APPLES and as mentioned above, the name is already taken. No HIP cover band has come close to the Road Apples. Little Bones is the closest thing. Mike Campeau had a real presence like Gordie. I met the ROAD APPLES a couple times, I got them to play my high school in '94 and '95, man, it was pumping! The perfect cure for the HIP off season was always Road Apples. Would somebody please tell them to come back!
