Summer vacation Plans? OK....

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred D Souza. He said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time...and remember that time waits for no one...So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up,until you're Enlightened, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy...Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Anything left to say, eh?
Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and then the baby looked at me.

Dude,

So true man. So sick of waiting to get to "the grown up place"; find a girl, settle down, etc. Screw that. I'm happy now.

Our culture tries to sell us this monumental lie; You must:

1). Go to college and finish ASAP

2). Find a girl, settle down and marry

3). Get house (with a bitchen' mortgage), car (make payments, sweet!), and work on your lawn all the time (with $500 lawn mower from HD).

4). Have said children. Lament that they are not old enough to hike, read the books you like, albums you dig jamming in the car to full bore. Then, when children are old enough they suck and don't want to be near you.

5). You hit 50, and realize you have not lived.

Dude, you were so right on this post. Screw vacation. Be happy now.
That may actually be the first reasonable and lucid post this guy's made since he started posting here.

I think someone has cracked his password and started posting under his name...this is far too "normal" to be a true Kevala post...

I agree, but the duck still farts at midnight
maybe it's you that changed..........

Have you ever experienced "feedback?" Understanding feedback can help to get a good handle on consciousness. The most obvious example of feedback is a microphone placed next to its own speaker. The speaker amplifies whatever little noise is picked up by the microphone, which the microphone then "hears" and puts out on the speaker again. This cycle can create an enormous screech from the smallest input.

Yeah, I'm still me, haven't changed a bit. The duck farts at midnight, the brown horse bucks at noon and PAUL KICKS ASS.

No. Never. Never Ever. I'm allergic to feedback and I'll thank you never to mention it in my presence!!!

What you are thinking, feeling, and being affects what everyone else on the planet is thinking, feeling, and being – through feedback. And vice-versa. What others are thinking affects you!

When the ability to focus clearly in the moment, at every moment, is developed these subtleties become plain.

When a feeling comes to you (who knows from where), the mind tends to associate that feeling with past impressions. It goes back to the last time you experienced this feeling. What was happening then becomes what the mind believes is the reason for the feeling now. It tells itself a "story" instead of simply being in the NOW, experiencing the feeling as it is, without judgement. When you are thinking about the last time this feeling came up, you feel more of what you felt then, which stimulates your mind again. And around and around it goes in what is called a "downward spiral." That’s an example of feedback.

These past impressions are also called "grooves." Feelings become associated with grooves in the mind. This causes experience to become limited to what we "know" from past experience. When we see clearly that some thoughts arise due to feelings, and these thoughts are about "old stories," then we see our grooves. When you know what your grooves are, then it becomes easier to make a choice of whether to keep them or release them. Or you can choose to live in the NOW and experience everything as it is right now, without bringing in past experiences.
The Lizard King says, fuck off and stay fucked off. How do you like that advice?
