did anyone catch last saturday night with will ferrell as host
he joined queens of the stone age and did the cowbell

classic just watched it today

Actually, I found the show on the most part to be quite unfunny. Re-hashed skits, and really bad writing. I was let down.

Remember when SNL was fresh?

Queens played awesome, though.

I caught that too, it was hilarious and yes the Queens did rock the place, tre cool.
Ya i laughed quite hard when he came out to play cowbell, cuz i've always loved the cowbell on Little Sister.

I thought aside from the jeopardy skit (they can do that skit every week with connery, and i would laugh everytime) it was a pretty bland episode.
I had to go out for the girlfriends birthday and unfortunately missed the episode...too bad it hasn't received the accolades though....from this am I too assume that they skipped out on a Robert Goulet skit....cause that shit is funny stuff!!! He's good when he does Neil Diamond too....."you bet your balls I'm Neil Diamond!!!!"

Goulet!!!
They did a Goulet skit...but it was pretty weak.
Also, I must get the word out that there is actually no cowbell on "Little Sister". It's a latin block. It's not even part of the bell family.
Anally yours,

I'm a big SNL fan from WAY back. I remember watching back when Eddie Murphy was on the show. Now THAT was when it was funny. Even the old original "not ready for primetime players" are still funny today. Dan Ackroyd as Julia Childs is my fave skit of all time!

I long for the days when it was FUNNY like back before the mid 90's. Somehow between then and now it just kinda died. There hasn't been a weekend update anchor like Denis Miller since, but Tina and Amy are doing a pretty darned good job of it. I'll watch up till Weekend Update and if the show hasn't been funny to that point, I'll turn it off after weekend update. I think I've made it all the way through one of the shows in the last few years.
Obviously, the best SNL is Mick Foley, Motivational Speaker.
there's too many to pick from but I loved Tom Hanks'-Mr. Short-Term Memory skits from way back when, those cracked me up. Or anything with Phil Hartman, man he was something else, one of the funniest people ever, he always made me laugh, I miss that guy. Or Dana Carvey's Church Lady, the one with Morton Downey Jr. was classic! I agree with Thipfan73, that show used to rule, but now it stinks, once Farley died and all the regulars bolted for movie careers (most of which failed anyway) it really went down the tubes. I remember when I was young we used to tape all the shows because we couldnt stay up late enough to watch, but once I got a tv in my room I would always watch Johnny Carson and SNL all the time and no-one knew hee hee. Comedy has always been a big thing for me, I love to laugh but I love making others laugh more, a good sense of humor is a wonderful thing. :thumb:

I remember being a little girl and staying up and watching SNL and Carson and thinking I was a big deal!
SNL is horrible this year, however I think Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the funniest Weekend Update team in years. Those girls are hilarious. It's pretty much the only part of the show I still tune in for.

As for last week's episode, the Jeopardy skit and Ferrell playing the cowbell with Queens of the Stone Age were both hilarious.

Yes, the MATT Foley skits were absolutely to die for.
I remmeber a skit from a few years back where it wa a copy of one of those "Classic Albums" or "Behind the Music" VH1 shows. It was supposidley Blue Oyster Cult when they recorded Don't Fear The Reaper. Chirstopher Walken was the record producer and he kapet saying the song needed more cowbell, so there is Will Ferrel right at the laed mike hitting away on the cowbell. The band would stop because they thought it was too loud, Christopher Walken would come out and say "I need more cowbell"..........

sounds kind of stupid describing it, but I laughed my ass off watching it......

I'd say a large part of those who watch SNL will remember this skit well. Definitely a classic and one of my all time favourites.
Be proud, I used the search feature here...

Anyways, all this SNL talk as of late had me thinking of a couple of skits that I remember as being ultra funny. The funniest one in my books was a skit where Mike Myers was playing Mick Jagger, and Mick Jagger was playing Keith Richards. Myers was his usual hilarious self, but it was Mick doing Keith, unintelligible, marbley mouth and all, that had my sides spiltting.

The other one that sticks in my mind was a skit where a deadpan Rev. Jesse Jackson recited Green Eggs & Ham. I'm not exactly sure what it was about that one that struck me, but it did.
