same...they're another overhyped boring english band..there's so much more that country has to offer musically than re-treading out bad radiohead piano driven music...

I think that they're great! Man Sized Eldorado (aka Trevor) and I went to their club show here in Toronto last Wednesday and it was awesome. Great songs, great performance, etc, etc. They recorded it in HD for future use, and MuchMusic will be broadcasting a 1 hour version of the concert in early June.

It was a good concert, and the new songs sounded solid. The only bummer is that since on one knew any of the new songs, everyone just stood around listening... it was very strange, as you'll probably see when it is broadcast on MM.
The least secret, secret song in the world was great... with a good introduction. Chris Martin's interaction with the crowd was great, and his energy level was incredible considering the number of interviews that I'd seen them do throughout the course of the day.

I really enjoy Coldplay. I think they're fantastic songwriters, and they're one of only three current British bands that I actually like (Stereophonics and Radiohead being the other two). To me a lot of that Brit-rock stuff sounds way too similar. And what's the deal with British rock singers always trying to sound like a cross between Bono and Thom Yorke? It kind of reminds me of the "Theory of a Nickelcreed" syndrome that we have here in North America, except the Bono/Yorke clones are much more tolerable. Even Radiohead are starting to become annoying. I swear those guys could put out a record of them farting into the microphone and critics would call it "brilliant", "cutting edge", or "a masterpice that will change rock n' roll forever."
