When I look at the Hip's discography, I always find myself drawn to the Rock N Roll in their repertoire (that's my french for you canadians
). Don't get me wrong...I love much of their brooding, introspective, thoughtful stuff (scared, put it off, weaken, gems) and their signature, drama building stuff (giftshop, sharks, trunk of a car). But I'm a sucker for a killer riff and I will always make a mix of their RAWK when I'm heading out to a shindig.
I just wonder why the boys don't share my view. I'd love to see these following tunes included in their sets more often: 3 pistols, inch an hour, heart of the melt, i'll believe in you and freak turbulence. Well.....?

I love all facets of the Hip, but sometimes I need to jump around my living room, knocking pictures off the wall and accidently kick the dog in the face. What? It happens.

The dog simply has to realize that when the Hip is on, all bets are off. Just like when I feed him too much turkey at Xmas time and he gives me that look...I know that I deserved it.

^ no. Evelyn is not an alright track. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but let's not get carried away. Evelyn shows what might have happened if the Hip hadn't turned out good.
Evelyn only has camp value. So if you like it because of that, then I suppose you can be allowed to live.

I know there are times I get into some of the hip's harder stuff and my computer chair is turned away from the livingroom and I've been caught Gording out by my boyfriend.
I completely agree...there's usually one song on each album that is a straight ahead rocker that occasionaly falls out of favour in set lists...The songs that are the first ones of your day just to give you the kick...Songs like:
Everytime you go
Three Pistols (which does appear in sets often)
(nothing from fully)
AN inch an hour
700 ft.
Vapour Trails
Sharks
All Tore Up
The Heart of the Melt
This isn't a set bitching by any stretch of the imagination... it's just me nodding politely to the first post.

I love to rock out to that song, especially during my morning commute. The trick is to make that perfect shocked face while screaming "Or Less? Did he say or less?, etc."

I wish I would catch my girlfriend Gording out... mostly I catch her doing something gross like picking her nose or something.
my cousin's band does some excellent hip covers (NOIS, I'll Believe In You, Cordelia, Bones, Pistols, Werewolf)...so if you're ever in Sudbury, let me know, especially if it's a Saturday night

yep we do exist and on this board we seem to mostly be "south of the border"
I wish my boyfriend could like the hip. I think he's just jealous because I love them so much. :lol:
One of my fave Hip moments was at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 1995. They played Inch an Hour as the first encore and there was much rejoicing. I haven't checked the database lately but I'll bet they haven't played that tune more than 15 or 20 times.
