Best part of that:

8. There are no plans for an Altamont 30th year Anniversary concert. What's the point of a rock concert if nobody dies? Fuck Woodstock '99, they should play free again at Altamont. Get together all the bald ex-hippies, drop acid into their Evian, round up all the graying Hell's Angels, give them free beer and knives, and let's see what happens!

hahaha! :lol:

You could be right, though I saw both shows from the middle-to-front sections of the floor seating. If the sound sucks there, then most likely the sound just...sucks.

sorry...that's a poor rationalization; a) Steel Wheels was 1989 and Richards was in his mid-40s, (old, but not old enough to completely suck) b) If you can't give a fan his money's worth, then don't do the show.

Page and Plant were about the same age when they did the Unleded tour, and it kicked ass. Saw Floyd at the cavernous Ohio Stadium in 1994 and it was probably the single greatest concert I ever attended.

Just a word of warning for those thinking about buying tix for this show. If their tour sucked 16 years ago, imagine how bad it'll suck today.....
I've seen the Stones a couple times, once from upper deck sideview seats and once from upper decks seats directly opposite the stage. Naturally, I hated the first time and really enjoyed myself the second time...even though the latter was the same night as the Hip's 2nd Hummingbird show in 2002. :x But yeah, if you get the chance to see them, go--it's at least worth the price of admission to hear some of the monsters of rock n' roll history live (and btw, first song I ever heard them play was "Jumping Jack Flash", which is a pretty high bar to set for any band).

YOu didn't say you saw them way back in 89, yeah they were still young then, but they had also been off the road for Years at that point, still no excuse, you should put on the best show you can anynight. I never noticed any of the guys slack in the shows I saw. SOme songs certain members are in the spotlight and the others step back and let them have it.
I saw the Stones at SARStock in Toronto, I htought they were really good. AC/DC rocked out really, really, well, and kind of over shadowed the Stones that night, but I thik it was b/c most of, if not all of ac/dc's setlist was high-adrenaline rock music, whereas the stones really mixed it up, playing from alot of their differnt styles (rock, soft rock, a bit of country-ish rock, jazzy type stuff...)

I would go see the Stones again...I thought they were really good, definately worht the $20 (i think) admission...

We'll know more tomorrow after the press conference in NYC, but saw this on soulshine.ca.

Rolling Stones Rumoured To Play Offbeat Canadian Cities
Published: 2005-05-09

As previously announced on Soul Shine, rumours and whispers surrounding a Rolling Stones world tour for 2005-2006 are building, and the latest news is that Canada won’t be overlooked in any way, shape, or form. Word is that The Rolling Stones will be hitting at least four Canadian cities, and not the ones most people would probably think of.

Sometime between the rumoured August 21st kick off in Boston’s Fenway Park and the end of 2005, The Rolling Stones are said to be playing the cities of Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, and yes, even Moncton at the Magnetic Hill Concert Site. Remember this is still very much in rumour form, and nothing official has been announced.

Other things being said about the impending tour is that The Rolling Stones will be the first to play London’s Wembley Stadium when it’s reopened in 2006, and that this will indeed be the band’s farewell tour, as the members get closer to senior citizen-dom. The 2005-2006 world tour will come in support of the legendary rockers’ upcoming album, which they have been working on with producer Don Was.

Let’s hope they hold true…The Rolling Stones’ rumoured Canadian stops:

August, Ottawa, ON – Lansdowne Park
September, Moncton, NB – Magnetic Hill Concert Site
September, Calgary, AB – Pengrowth Saddledome
October/November, Vancouver, BC – GM Place

They're having a press conference at the Frank Clair Stadium tomorrow...me thinks it'll be to announce that they are infact coming to Ottawa to close down the Super Ex summer festival....too bad the Hip don't open for them during ALL 4 of the rumoured Canadian dates.

Quote:Ottawa on Aug. 28 at Lansdowne Park;
Moncton, N.B. on Sept. 3 at Magnetic Hill;

My brother just called me at work to say the Hip were confirmed as a support act (according to the radio station he was listening to.)

The venue in Moncton is the same one where the Pope said Mass in 1984. Make of that what you will, but it's definitely big enough to hold a Stones audience.
