their singer's an assclown wanna be badass, rebulican, annoying, douchebag
they stole their name and sound from Alice In Chains
they got rid of the hot chick from the first cd
flavour of the month bandwagon signing nu-metal act that should've never made it past the local act stage if you ask me...
these are just a few of the reasons i pawned both of their cd's (i got one for free from Columbia House, and one as a gift).
Hey bro, I agree with most of what you said there too! I never tried to come off like they were some amazing metal act, I just dig some of their tunes, Ill put Alice In Chains waaaay above GS any day my friend. I think this thing has been blown up into something its not
Friends again?

I'm really liking Sunspots and Only. The rest I'd have to be in a particular mood to listen/like.

Time to revive this thread - because last night I had quite the experience. NIN were scheduled to come to Columbus, and although I wanted to go badly, I couldn't spare the money as I had just recently attended the Hip shows in Pittsburgh & Lewiston. So...relunctantly, I decided to pass. Fast forward to yesterday, my sister-in-law calls me and says that the opening band for NIN (Bauhaus) is staying at the hotel she works at, and they are giving out tickets to the show. She asks if I want to go - of course, I say hell yes. So my wife and I end up going to pick up the tickets at will-call, and they turn out to be front-row center w/backstage passes for the aftershow party! Peaches and Bauhaus opened - and they were okay, not really my cup of tea but I didn't hate either of them either. Nails was awesome. They played quite an amazing set - lots of the newer stuff (the Fray, Only, Hand that Feeds, etc.), but also lots of the older hits (Wish, Terrible Lie, Hurt, Closer, March of the Pigs, etc.) and even a few B-sides (Get Down Make Love & Suck Version 1). They closed with Head Like a Hole and it rocked just as hard as the first time I ever heard it. Nails has these awesome screens that come down in front of the stage and light up with art and graphics and all sorts of other things - I don't even know how to describe it - but the light show was awesome - best audio/visuals that I have seen since Tool's Aenima tour. They wouldn't let us bring in our digital camera for some reason, so the only pictures I was able to get were on my phone. The camera thing really sucked because afterwards we went to the post-show party and got to meet most of the band. The only disappoinment was that Trent didn't come to the post party, but it was still cool to meet the other guys - they seem really cool and down to earth. Also met with roadies and the lead singer from Bauhaus. All in all an amazing night that I will not soon forget - if anyone has found their interest in NIN to be waning, attend one of their live shows and I swear it will get you back into them instantly. I've been listening to Broken and Downward Spiral all day today and loving it!
i saw NIN in Toronto last Saturday, it was fucking amazing!
they played Burn, Head Like A Hole, Down In It, Terrible Lie, Sin, Something I Can Never Have, Gave Up, Help Me I Am In Hell...i was so pleasantly surprised that over 50% of their set was oldies...the only 3 songs they played from With Teeth were: Bite The Hand That Feeds, Only, and You Know What You Are?...
setlist:
Somewhat Damaged

Good Disc.
Great band live. Wouldnt hesitate to see them again. The entire band goes full throttle the entire set.
the CD needs to be appreciated on a good system......and loud. No shitty radio shack boombox.

Wow - that sounds like quite the amazing show! I guess beggars can't be choosy, but I really wish they would have played 'Gave Up' at the show I went to. That was always my favorite tune back in the day. Glad to hear I'm not the only Nails fan in Hipbase land - they are truly a remarkable band to see live. They go balls-out for 2 solid hours! The entire show is an attack on the senses, and the band sounds remarkably good live which I honestly did not expect. I can't wait until they tour around these parts again!

No, you aren't the only one! I missed the Cleveland show last fall due to illness. I didn't miss Columbus...it was amazing!

So what part of Ohio are you from? I know we have a few other Ohioans on here - Horrible Esthete, Will Ruocco, me... Speaking of Ohio, I went down to Cinci and saw the Tribe win part 2 of the Battle for Ohio today, and then returned home to see that Hafner was snubbed for the All-Star team. Wow - what a travesty! If he played in NY/Boston he would be bigger than Jesus!
Oh, and I love the line in your signature line: "If you love someone, do the dishes." I take it you were at the Lewiston show as well? If so, we seem to be at a lot of the same concerts! Anyway, I loved it when Gord said that before Greasy Jungle - "Fathers...unless it's fathers day...do the f*in dishes."
I'm about 45 minutes from Columbus.
No, I wasn't at Lewiston. Gordie said that at the Saturday night Fort York show too.
I'm not massively into NIN, but I think 'With Teeth' is pretty good. Not amazing, but a decent listen.
if you don't already have them, get Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, and The Downward Spiral...pretty much all the best NIN can be found on those three releases...if you're feeling ambitious get The Fragile and listen to the whole thing (both discs) from start to finish at a really loud volume on headphones (getting stoned before you listen might be a good idea too).
